Genarically, all NGK stock plugs are pregapped at 1.1mm, You could have an ignition coil going bad too. Where was the oil, on the spark section from inside the cylinder or on the top section which means the spark plug seal is bad and you need a valve cover gasket kit. If the oil was from the valve cover then as a minimum, you will need to clean the spark plug wires, I would replace them after the gasket kit was changed.

fix the problem, change valve cover gasket and grommet and change spark plug to ngk v power(gap it to .43) and car start up very smoothly

old owner used bosch spark plug... i guess the spark plug went bad?

Where can I buy the valve cover gaskets? Any special tools required changing it?

Anywhere, valve cover gasket, seal washers under the nuts and spark plug hole seals, no special tools.

hello people i have a problem as the title says i did not want to start a new thread, my car cranks but wont start. i have a 97 accord lx 2.2 vtec automatic, 4 cyl. earlier today my car was working fine went into town and came back home. so i decided to rethread the threads where the distributor goes because one bolt was holding it in place while the other two weren't holding as good. i finished the job and its now nice and secure i put everything back together. around 1:50 pm i went to town again, started the car up and ran fine but then problems started as i turned around the corner my car died. i started it up again and continued driving but as i was driving to town it started to make misfiring sounds or sounded like it wanted to turn off. then after i was done doing errands i headed home then the car died. luckily at a red light, started it up again and continued driving and as i wasnt far from where i stay but then the car died. now heres the weird thing the car was still running but as i pressed the gas it didnt want to accelerate and then it finally lost power and had to stop on the side of the street i pushed the car to my apartment (30 minutes of pushing pretty exhausting XD)

so what do i need to check before buying parts? i hope i was detailed

i tried jump starting it, even sprayed starter fluid still wont start. i hear fuel pump prime . tomorrow im going to check fuel pressure spark ignition

a while back i changed the fuel filter re soldered the main relay i think that might be my problem but i dont know for sure. also not to long ago my fuel pump fuse blew and thats when i decided to resolder the main relay because i installed a kill switch but i think it touched ground and blew the fuse im not really sure any help or tips will be helpfull thanks in advance
