96 Accord LX Exhaust - what brand?
Which brands of catback exhaust will fit on my 1996 Accord LX... I would prefer Greddy, or another exhaust with a non-obnoxious sound level...but Greddy does not include the 96 LX in their list. They do have 96 EX, and 94-95 LX, however. Would either of these fit? Or do you have any other recommendations?
help me :-P

Any Greddy will fit. I have a '96 Accord LX Cpe. with the Evo system. Great sounds and great looks! IMO, go with the Evo. However, I have talked to some people who said the 4-cylinder non-Vtec '94-'97 Accord exhausts have one small difference. Apparently, some Accords during those years featured a two-bolt flange instead of the usual three-bolt flange (like on the EX model), which hooks up to the catalytic. converter. Check to make sure you have three-bolt flange before you get an exhaust. Just order it for a '96 EX in your case.

all the same, you can get a custom made SS mandrel bent exhaust done usually for cheaper than a premade system, including a nice muffler like the Maganflow ones......that's the route I'd go. Otherwise, if you're going for a name brand, Apexi or Greddy both do very nice jobs!

problem is some parts don't fit the 1996 and 1997 accords. there were changes in the manufacturing and i've had off the shelf parts that were supposed to fit, not fit.
your best bet is to choose the exhaust you like, get a header at the same time, and have them both fitted because you may have to get a connector pipe welded in. no big deal, but if you try to do it in your driveway, then your S.O.L. just speaking from experience!!
oh, and I am running a GReddy EVO. nice, but i like my HondaSport (think Remus backbox) much better.

Dang, HondaSport!!! Thats OG hehe. Their eg coupe in their ad was the sh*t back then, but I wouldn't drive it today with its TSW wheels with Japanese logos.
By the way, any of you accord guys have your stock exhaust you wanna sell? Did they all come dual-tip? Just making sure, for my friend with a 94 Accord coupe.

Thanks
Thanks for all the help...I'm gonna check to see if i've got a 3-bolt flange tomorrow morning.
In any case....Would any of you recommend Greddy over APEXi? I've heard wonderful things about both...Apexi is slightly cheaper ($40 or so) but i've got the cash for either.
After this its time to save for my h22...in regards to that, I've read in a few places that a prelude cat might be needed or something...could that cause any complications?
Thanks again

Re: Thanks (IAmCman)
apexi is almost the same and usually at least $100 cheaper, get an apexi worldsport muffler and custom piping vs. evo catback, thats wut i would do at least, remember with exhaust ur talking a few hp at most so spending hundreds of dollars isnt worth it...

Thoughts: Name brand will recover 50-60% of it's value if you need to sell it. Custom stuff (w/ non-name brand parts) is almost worthless on the secondary market. Apexi makes good stuff...there tone is very subtle until WOT.
I'd shop and call around to at least 5-8 places. Pit Crew based in San Gabriel, CA blows their **** out at ungodly prices.

well, regardless of what exhaust u get, either way, ur gonna have to cut and weld!!
i just got the apexi WS....sounds unreal actually!...none of this farty sound goin on!!
but yeah, they had to hack off about 2inches or so, then welded to my H22 header!!

God damn you are right...I just got my WS yesterday and installed it this morning. It really is unreal....
This thing is unbelievably quiet, a nice, deep throaty tone. Exactly what I wanted...I'm very pleased with what I got.
I recommend it to anyone considering buying it.
