'96 Accord F22B2 engine OBD code P1491 - insufficient EGR valve lift
Any idea how to fix this? 180k miles. Automatic. Box stock. Runs great otherwise. I replaced the front O2 sensor recently, after driving with check engine light on for about 6 months and finally getting an OBD reader on it. Had the OBD reset a few days ago and no check engine light for about a day, then it came on and the OBD code was this P1491. I looked up the OBD II code on another site - "insufficient EGR valve lift detected".
Thanks for any help.

Are you handy when it comes to your car?
If you are you could always try cleaning your EGR system.

Page 8 & 9 of this PDF document is what you will be looking for. The part that they skip here is that you have to remove your fuel rail in order to get to the EGR port cover. Once you have the cover off you will want to give it a real good cleaning with carb/throttle body cleaner and a wire brush. It is ok to re-use the metal gasket if it looks as though it is not rotted or badly worn. I have re-used mine both times I have cleaned out my EGR system.
While your at it you can also remove your EGR valve & solenoid and give it a good blast of carb/TB cleaner and a scrubbing as well.
