So i had my 94's engine get swapped out with a 96. Turns out the guy installed the 96 distributor with it. Not just the cap its the whole kit down to the wiring harness but the 94 engine computer is still installed. The car isnt starting. Its cranking but it wont turn over. Could the computer be the reason? At first i was told that i needed the 94 distributor and that it wouldnt matter if the computer was 94 aslong as i got the 94 distributor back on the engine it should work. But now that i found out the whole distributor including wiring harness is a 96 so wouldnt that mean i need to swap out the computer with the 96 for it to turn on?

all he had to do was to use the old ecu, the old harness, and the old distributor and it would have been plug and play as long as the engine was the same

ask him to do just that

or you can go to the junkyard and get all those above things and do it yourself

yeah the guy is a complete moron. he butchered my car. thats why im on here trying to figure out how to put it back together. i had a blown head gasket in my 94 v tec engine. he sugested i replace the engine and i agreed. i paid him and he towed it back without it being able to start and had missing parts then disappeared. ive been trying to piece it back together with zero experience in mechanic work. so with all that stuff being 96 including the engine cant i just switch the computers? because i have the computer for both engines

If you have the 96 ecu then you might as well try swapping it. Only takes a few minutes, its under passenger side, under the carpeting in the front part of the footwell.

the 94 and 96 are completely different and you won't be able to plug it in without an adapter subharness, and the 94 has the crank sensor at the distributor and the 96 has it at the crank so the 96 won't work
