I wanna buy a Bluetooth stereo but I don't wanna get speakers just yet but I don't wanna blow them out either. Do I need new speakers to work the same as my factory stereo did? I can upgrade later but my main priority is being able to just get the Bluetooth stereo.

Aftermarket speakers are usually pretty cheap and they're well worth the upgrade in sound quality alone. You should be able to get decent pair for $30-40. Multiply that by 2 since if you decide to get them you should do the whole car if the speakers are stock. Stock speakers are cheaply made and only have a flimsy paper cone. Sound quality suffers and so does longevity. Age and cranking the volume up will blow them out quick.

That said, no you do not have to upgrade them but you probably should if you want the full experience of your new stereo.

The weak link in a stock audio system is the HU, [radio], you will be surprized at how good the stock speakers sound with the aftermarket HU.

With that said, a good set of 2way speakers in the front will improve SQ, [sound quality] mostly in the high frequencies, a loss in lower frequencies and SPL will be noticed if you install "high power" speakers as they will not be as "efficient" as the stock speakers.

If you do replace the speakers, find a set of 2ohm, [instead of 4ohm] speakers no more then 50W RMS and only front speakers leave the rears stock or if replacing them use mid range/mid bass drivers in the back, no tweeters, high frequencies from behind you will only mess up the sound imaging by introducing left/right bias and staging. 94

No, you do not need to change out your speakers with the new head unit (HU), but new speakers are recommended, of course. If you buy a new hu, then you should also purchase an aftermarket adaptor harness for your particular vehicle model. It could be sold together with an aftermarket bracket because you likely will also need to purchase an aftermarket bracket for your vehicle if you are to replace the OEM stereo. If not, it is usually $6-$20 depending on your car model. You can save a few dollars if purchased together. Only a fool would try to install a new hu without one.
