2000 Accord won't start
I am working on my friends Accord that he recently bought. The car died the other day with no trouble codes. I tested and replaced the icm which was faulty but have since been unable to get it to run. It does turn over but no spark. The ignition coil is good and I installed a new one just to make sure. The cyp sensor also is ok as well as the pgm-fi main relay. I am using a Haynes manual to assist me with trouble shooting. While testing the cyp sensor the manual states that there should be no continuity from terminal to ground which from terminal to sensor thee is not. I am unclear though if that means from terminal harness lead back to pcm also. In that direction it does go to ground. I've spoken to a dealership and they can only offer that I bring in the car for them to diagnose. I am not sure what else to check or look for. I do have voltage to the icm but it does not switch on and off like it should to generate spark like I have read and been told. This is a good icm as it was tested at Autozone right after testing the old faulty one. Any help would be great. Is there some form of an immobilizer that I might be overlooking as well? Thanks, Kevin

Not getting any spark from the coil. ICM and ign coil are brand new. If it was a cap or rotor I would've had this car running the first day. This is a bigger problem somewhere in the brains of the car. I just found out the other night about the immobilizer and I am looking into that. The "key" symbol does not even light up(bulb is good). Like I said I have voltage to the ICM but it doesnt react by switching on and off to generate spark from the coil. Need to know if the immobilizer system halts ignition or if it just disables the fuel circuit.

Looks like for me to find the problem I'll have to check everything including the ign switch even though power is showing up to the ICM. Running out of things to check :/

Check for 12v at the dizzy blk/ylw wire.if 12v is present,dizzy internals.if no 12v present,ignition switch or main relay..
The ICM and coil are not the only things in a distributor.there are 3 other sensors in there that,if faulty, will stop the ICM dead in its tracks from telling the coil to fire.
I've had other incidents where the internal dizzy wire harness fried a wire and I just had to swap out the wires.
You can check continuity between the wires inside the dizzy and make sure they are all working correctly.

The "dizzy" wire? The distributor breaks down to the ICM, IGN coil, CYP sensor, cap and rotor. 12 volts is present within the distributor but it fails to switch on and off to allow the ign coil to generate a spark. it is this switching action that is causing the failure. Ign switch, main relay and all other relays associated with allowing the car to run are ok. the problem lies within spark allowance/control. I have had to send the car to the dealership to let them find the fault now. not having spare parts or futher knowledge of the ecm controls has forced me to do this. My next guess is the immobilizer circuit or the ECM. No one has yet been able to tell me if the immobilizer circuit interrupts ignition or if it just kills fuel. I assume it does both as you can easily hot wire the fuel pump as long as the spark is present.. I'll post what the dealership finds.
