1997 Honda Accord Cranks and stumbles but wont start Video inside
Hi guys I have been having trouble with my accord lately. It has been sitting for about a month and then I go to start it and it sounds like this.
I have replaced the main relay and the ignition coil and there is no change. Anyone have any ideas thanks.

Notice that the tach never moves......you are missing "ignition" signal.
Now why becomes this issue.....ok, coil replaced, not sure why but we'll assume it is ok.
You need to TEST the ignition system and figure out why you are not getting an ignition signal to the tach.....lack of spark.

I got it started and it ran and drove fine, then I let it sit for a few minutes and its back to doing this. Very strange...

If you fix the ignition problem and it still has the problem then...Gas, especially with ethanol in it, can cause lacquer to build up and/or rust when a car sits idle. As a result the fuel filter may be clogged and/or the fuel injectors. You can run some fuel cleaner through it if you can get it started or you can test the fuel pressure first, at the rail, to see if you're getting sufficient fuel pressure. Again, in the video, the tach DOES NOT MOVE. No signal from the dist, no spark. Test why that is and the issue is solved.
If you just want to throw parts and money at it, well I could sit here and name several things and you could spend ~1K on a guess/shotgun approach.
Yes, testing things only when it decides to act up is a pain in the butt but your only other choice is to spend money and hope you guessed right.

Timing off, the tach, ignition signal would still be there......bad gas, ignition signal would still be there......what am I missing?

I realise this post is over 20 days old, but did the OP find the problem? I'm only asking as I have the same issue going on with my 97 Accord. The tach needle doesn't move, and I do have spark. Right now I think I've got it narrowed down to the ECU, as my injectors aren't cycling (no ground signal to them). Mine will run IF you shoot starting fluid into the intake manifold (brake booster hose works great for doing that). However, the tach needle moves when it's running on starting fluid.
