1996 Accord Stereo Question
Ok. Hello there guys! I'm new to the site although I've had several different cars, this is my FIRST Honda vehicle and i must say. I am in LOVE with this car. Everything from the looks of it ( the fifth gens are the best looking to me) to the handling, all the way to the gas mileage. Anyway I don't want to get too off-topic so here's my question. I have recently changed the battery for this vehicle not knowing that the anti-theft system would activate, thus making me need a code to get it back working. I don't particularly care for the radio anyway (its the stock one) and I was wondering that if i put an aftermarket stereo in this vehicle if it'd work with no problems even though I haven't deactivated the anti-theft device. Will the new (better) stereo need to have the car's anti theft system deactivated for it to work properly?
Thanks for answers in advance.

You have nothing to worry about. The new stereo will work just fine. The factory stereo does not affect the new one.

Re: 1996 Accord Stereo Question
Call Honda of America, give the info for you car...they should give you the code, or call, stop by the dealer...both are going to want proof you own the car. Also look in the glove box and or owners manual to see if someone wrote the code down....at least you'll have tunes until you get the other radio installed...and yes the anti theft is inside the radio, so the aftermarket will work just fine.

Thanks thats all I wanted to know. I'm not too worried about getting the factory radio working because well, i just dont listen to am fm AND it doesnt have a cd player ( the car is a 96). But thanks anyway, now i can buy with peace of mind.
