1994 Honda accord EX wont go over 4000 rpms
I'm having a problem where my rev range is limited to 4k. When i hit 4000 rpm it sounds like it sputters and breaks up. I have replaced the oil pressure sensor, distributor, checked all the injectors and checked for any leaks at the intake manifold and throttle body. No trouble codes or CEL codes. Automatic transmission

You may have a restriction in the exhaust system, if you know how to test a cat with a infrared thermometer then go for it, it's simple.

you can try removing the oxygen sensor from the downpipe to check if the cat is clogged, if it runs better than the issue is the cat is clogged
if it still runs bad then it's possible the distributor is bad

If you had the distributor off, make sure it isn’t 180 out of phase.
They say say the offset keeps it only going in the correct way. I can tell you it will go in the wrong way and act like a governor.

Usually if there is an engine problem 'limp mode' the engine will not rev past 3K.
If there is a VTEC problem, you might be able to get it up to 4K, but usually it will not get past 3500.(check you have full oil)
If the tach is faulty, you could actually be hitting actual redline and the tach is just reading wrong. 65MPH with the factory trans should be ~2800rpm. If it reads lower then the Tach is probably wrong.
