Well, it's not quite a VX... or and HX...
But it does have VTEC-E. On all three cylinders.

No, not the hatch. The Insight.
I regularly pull 80-100 mpg on my commute, which is when I try to max out mpg. When just driving around town I am much more aggressive, leading to tanks averaging 65-75 mpg.
By far the coolest car I've ever owned. Pretty sure it would smoke a stock VX too, anyone want to race?
J/K.

I love insights. Once I get sick of the VX it'll be my next econo-car for sure.
With 80% stop-and-go driving this week I pulled 45 MPG with the VX! Wow. With an alignment and some better rolling tires this car could regularly hit the 50s I'd bet.
VX popularity is HUGE right now! People all over PM me or tell me in person they want to buy it when I tell them about the mileage this $2k car gets.
VX love!

Wow, this thread is amazing! I'm only getting 22 mpg on an auto 98 sedan, completely stock, with a y7 and only 50k miles.
Tires are good, inflated to 36 PSI, new air filter, fuel filter, checked brakes, Ebrake isn't dragging, everything I can think of.
Someone told me to change the pcv valve, that's the only suggestion I have right now. Got any ideas?

Good luck getting an Insight... they are hella expensive right now. I paid $6k for mine last July when gas was down around $2.50 / gal.
Pretty sure I could flip it for around $10k right now!

Do a full tune-up, get the alignment checked (could have a wheel "dragging"), check wheel bearings, don't rev it too high when accelerating, replace plug wires/plugs/dist cap/rotor (they are 10 years old, ready for a change), check your timing, make sure it is idling properly, clean out intake manifold/throttle body/IACV (sea-foam usually works for this).
After you do those things I'm sure you'll see a jump in MPG.

This summer has been good for my VX. Didn't break once and has been 100% reliable for the MANY long road-trips I've done combined with hauling everything I own in it twice.
Added thousands of miles to it going to interviews across 3 states and now landed in VA.
Car loved the Castrol Synthetic this summer. 4k mile filter change and 8k miles on the oil, and for all those miles took under a quart (due to the vc gasket...).
This month I'll change the oil, add new spark plugs, spark plug wires, grill block for the colder months, switch the intake to suck only warm air, and will add the OEM VX rear bumper air-diffuser.
Found a real-time MPG gauge I'm going to buy as soon as it's offered in MPG instead of KPG:
http://www.gassavers.org/showt...yoshi
This gauge show finally show me how/when to shift to get the best MPG from the car. I'm guessing my averages should be 50+ after I install that.
Overall MPG currently:

Any other VX owners going to give the thread an update?
