you guys with 5 lug, when you guys swapped it...what prop valve/mc/brake booster did you guys use? does it have to be swapped out? or the cx/dx prop would be fine?

please let me know. I am getting 5 lug soon.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by . a d a m &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Hey fellas, I know a lot of you have 5-lug as well, and I'm having a brake issue, so maybe you can help. Let me start by saying this is my first Civic with 5-lug, so bear with me a bit if it's any different from 4-lug.

My car needed new front pads, so I went and got some, and while putting them on, I ran into an issue. While trying to compress the piston back into the caliper, it wouldn't budge. No big deal right? I simply loosened the bleeder screw and the piston moved in easily. The same thing happened on the other side, did it over there too, and I knew that I had to bleed the brakes.

Enlisting the help of my dad, we bled the two front brakes. The brake pedal builds pressure fine while the car is off, but when I start it, the pedal falls nearly to the floor. So we try bleeding all of the brakes. Same thing. Try a one-man bleeder. Same thing. I am beginning to think something is wrong. But what? Is the master cylinder bad? Is it the brake booster? If so, do I buy the parts for an ITR or for a Civic?

Thanks a lot guys. </TD></TR></TABLE>

do you see any leakage? i had the same thing. when i started the car, the pedal dropped. i kept refilling and i found out a big puddle next to my passenger front wheel. i was missing a washer on a brake line to my spoon caliper. lol

No I can't find any leaks. I talked to a brake specialist and he said he thought it was the MC. I'm going to try a new one today, hopefully that will work.

Did you run the master completely dry? I know you don't wanna hear this but it kinda sounds like you still have some trapped air... It's also possible you have over stroked the master cylinder (please no jokes kids) and it could need replacing... It's also kind of odd the you would need to open the bleeders to press in the pistons.. I have never had to do that </TD></TR></TABLE>

Yeah that sort of left me scratching my head, I didn't know if for some weird reason 5-lug would be different but I checked the manual and found that it isn't. Maybe the MC is bad and isn't allowing fluid to return back into the reservoir so it has nowhere to go, therefore not allowing the piston to slide back in until I open the bleeder? I don't know. I hope it's something simple.

did you have the cap off the MC when you pushed the piston back in? that could have done it in imo

The cap off the reservoir? Yes, it's supposed to be off when you're pushing the piston back in isn't it?

It's time to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of JDM Speedworx. We're inviting everyone to attend. Please don't miss out on this event. We want to thank everyone who supported us in the past year. We hope you will continue to support us in the future. This event is being held AT JDM Speedworx in Salida/Modesto, right in the heart of the 209. Bay Area, Sac-Town, Fresno, and everyone in Cali please come check out this event. Everyone is welcome to attend.

We had a couple of problems with people acting stupid at the last couple of meets. If you want to be able to attend more of these events in the future, please don't do it! You'd be ruining for not only yourself, but for anyone else that attends. We respect you and your car, please respect our wishes.
That being said, I hope you are all able to attend. Bring all of your friends, family, and your JDM inspired rides. The more, the better!
We will be providing free food and drinks, and DJ Phlim will be on the 1's and 2's to keep you entertained.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, or hit up the contact info listed on the flyer. Thanks for a great first year. We hope to see you there!
