ef4dr: how much is a good tranny going for around you? wouldnt it be easier to just pick one up that works? or have you rebuilt a tranny before?

so i need advise on what colour to paint my new hood and trunk. not going to paint it till summer. most likely going to use spray paint. probably goign to shave the emblems off since they have to come off for painting anyways. im going to be panting my two tone black so i was thinking of painting the hood and trunk black too. but i think i want a semi gloss instead of flat. the hood is bare metal so what should i use to cover it so it doesnt rust? the trunk has some scratches so im going to have to sand it down and use some filler aswell.

janz3n: its really hard to paint a bare metal with spray paint and have good protection that lasts. So you would be better off with this:

I think i posted this link here before, just cant remember the page number< plus to save your time.
And yes, do the black, and gloss for sure, with some drop car will look hott.
Now, is the 2 tone will be glossy to? or Flat...
Good luck

Why wouldnt it fit? Theyre both a standard din slot. And i have a new stereo in my car, it fit and hooked up fine. I cant say for sure if that particular model hooked up with no dramas though. Although i dont see why not?

Sorry man, usually if noone replies the first time though, it means they dont know. I think Hellmeroma was planning on doing the same thing, but he hasnt shown his face in this neck of the woods for a while.

Ok ok I know that almost all aftermarket stereos are made to be compatable with any car (assuming the correct harness) but I wasn't sure if Honda head units were interchangable..

I want a CD player, and I want the head unit to light up white to match the dash lights, so I figure it would be a nice touch. I was hoping it was a common swap that someone could chime in on with experience.

the price is right even if i have to replace all of the syncros it will still be cheaper than buying another good one and i dont want to go with an ls tranny because of the longer gears... i have a couple friends that have rebuilt trannies numerous times

i read the whole thing , results are awesome, do 4-5 coats to get were u want and for it to last.
It sticks to everything, even bumpers, mirrors, moldings. Im doing my whole car like that in the summer, plus i finally got a new grill and the hood too.

So, i figured it will be perfect for ur two tone.
Just dont do the flat black, do the semigloss all around it will look greate

ya forget the two tone.. i think im just gogin to do the whole car in gloss white. i dont know about all that sanding though.. im not looking for a really good looking paint job. so i might just do 4 -5 coats and leave it. might try and fix the dent in my roof first though. i was told by my auto body teacher that they use a hammer and something to hit right in the rain gaurd thing and it pushes the roof together popping the dents out.

speaking of paint, any of your go to maaco to do your paint job? if so how much? i was thinking about doing mine over there because its my beater and i plan on keeping it as a daily and picking up a AP1 (S2000). I was told by a mechanic that did his, he went to maaco and asked who there best painter was and gave him $200 on the side plus whatever it was to paint it through maaco and he said it was probably one of the best paintjobs he has seen. I have rust on the quarters and i plan on keeping it factory color so how do you think that would run? just a guesstimate?

im not sure how much it would run but if you can repair the rust your self it would be much cheaper. and if you do all the prep your self it will probably turn out better because the cheapest paint job at macco doesnt involve prep so most of the time the paint will peel off because the paint has nothing to bond to .

yea that’s what i think, just wasn’t sure
i had a chance to take one of LX and i didn’t do it for some reason, then it was gone. It had a tach and stuff, the only thing it was auto< but hey i could just cover it up with a piece of tape or something.
Oh well, its gone now

You have to get a 90/91 dashboard.

Your 88/89 dashboard does not have provisions to properly secure (and look good doing it!) a 90/91 gauge cluster.

Try to pop it in there (without even worrying about the wiring) and you'll see what I mean.

Go with an 88/89 gauge cluster if you don't want to have to swap dashboards.
