is there any seam sealer in there?

 

Thanks guys... yes I have seam sealer on the firewall, and basically the back section, just not on the front half... like at the mounts forward.

 

i dont think its needed for westcoast cars. no roadsalt or rusting issues. plus, we dont keep our cars for more than a few years anyway. honda put the sealer there to make the cars last 20+ years. its not needed on cars that arent driven everyday, or cars in dry weather. looks better without it and icing should only be put on a cake.

I think the seamsealer honda used on efs is **** anyways, its open cell foam so its holds moisture and leads to rear quarter rust

i posted a pic of my bay... went with no seam sealer, torched and wire wheeled it all out. but last night i was thinking about it and went back and re-seamed them all but very nice and very little. Your car looks great non the less... cant wait to see it fully assembled now!

 

...and would you know the molecular chemical makeup of that open cell foam?


you need to invent a liquid that we can put on our cars to make the metal lighter + stronger.

i've heard of something like that in the aerospace industry for helicopter blades.

 

[freak] metal, carbon is stronger lighter and less prone to oxidation.
