i just got my b20vtec put in my car... mounted it on thats about it... started it up.. we here a thumping sound... not clicking or taping.. like dududududuududud coming from its head...soo ****! any helps guys?

99 b20b block/ gsr internals..
99 b16 head/tap/gsr cams/adj aem gears..
dc 4-1 headers..
stock clutch.
ls tran.

 

hmmm ls tranny and vtec dont mix to well. is your timing right?

 

Take the valve cover off, is anything loose or did something fall in there?

 

ALSO I HAVE A B18B/20 skunk2 IM carb legal. IM WILLING TO SHIP. MAKE ME AN OFFER. I NEED IT SOLD

 

umm if something falls apart would everything just eff up??? umm its just knocking.. well im getting my valves checkd out soon i hope..paying this mechanic dude to adj my valves.. then ima start it up and see if its the same sund.. then maybe check for bent valves.. well heres a few pix. taken by my phne

 

and yes my timing is rite.. the lines on the cams line up with the head surface and the piston was all the way up.. usdd a chop stick ha..




OO and one more thing.. its leaking oil from its cam geears.. WTH?

The noise could be from over/under tightend valves

And it sounds like your cam seal is leaking, i want to think they are like $7 each from honda

 

the motor looks good. have you punched it a lil yet?

im sure it was. i want to learn how to weld myself to do my own exhaust. but i dont have a welding machine

 

Its not hard, and a 110 volt mig welder is fairly inexpensive and easy to use

But ive moved on to 220v and tig

 

check compression and make sure they're all pretty close, if not youll find out which cylinder is having a problem whether its in the bottom end or head

 

my gf got me this auto dimming helmet for xmas last year, hoping to pick up a new mig in the next few weeks since there on sale for like 170

And I forget who was asking about the CTR crank pulley, or if you've gotten it yet, but my buddy who works at the parts desk at honda can get them brand new from honda at cost for $60CDN I think. So go by your dealership, and if they can't, lmk if j00 want me to pick it up and we'll work something out
