When I was six I broke both of my wrists falling out of a tree. I also loved to wear cowboy boots with shorts and no shirt...but the doctor put a stop to that because he said it was making my feet grow weird.

Yup. Crawling out on a large horizontal limb/trunk...I reached for a smaller branch to support myself and "SNAP"...head dive 8ft straight to the ground. It's probably a good thing that I superman'd straight to the ground instead of sailor dive.

Six years old...beginning of summer...one cast on each arm...six weeks...radical.

Haha...luckilly this was in 1984 so the only gaming console available at the time was Atari...and we were poor so we didn't even get the Nintendo till the late 80's. I was an outdoors kid though...so not being able to ride my bike or play sports really bummed me out.

 

yeah, here was my typical day.

get up and ride to my grandpa's carpet store. go to the park across the street at 8am for a summer camp.
then swim lessons and after that it would be noon, so we went back over to the shop. then my dad would take us to lunch. we would get back to the shop and hop on our bikes and head to the card shops. luckily there were 2 in our town. so, we would hit one up then head to the other. we would get home around 4 or so. then it was time for wiffleball normally or basketball. some days it would be football if we could find enough to play. we would stay out playing basketball until about 10pm. then we would hit up the super nintendo for some mario kart. rinse and repeat.

Question for the dads out there. Do you refer to yourself when speaking to you kids as "I" or "dad"?

 

normally i or me. unless it is something like "yes, that is your dad's car." it wouldn't sound correct if i said "yes, that is your me's car." lol. but, the one weird thing is calling brandy "mom". in context like "go give that to your mom." if i need her attention i still say her name, but i always found it weird for parents to call the other by mom or dad. now we do it.

I always find myself referring to Hannah by dad. Like, "Dads got to go to work." Kate finds it weird, but I dont think its weird. I do understand that not many people do it, but I just wanted to see others takes on it.

 

I don't find it weird at all. It'll be weird if your child referred to you by your first name.
