I'm in dire need of some good deep v wheels. I have just the front brake on right now. Is it essential to have a machined surface or not?

I did 30 miles on the fixie this past weekend. FYI.

I rode a fixie for a bit and loved it. A friend let me borrow their bike and it took a bit getting used to stopping and whotnot but it was pretty fun after i got used to it.

Here in St. Augustine we have a little bit different bike scene. There are some tallbikes downtown that I see quite often.

They usually weld two frames together one on top of the other and have the crank in the top one with an extended chain down to the bottom. It's some pretty cool stuff.

sweet, guys i pm'd all of you to jump on over at Bike Coalition

Today: well, i got out of working today so i hit up one of the local bike shops and chatted w/the owner. Long story short he had me on a Masi Speciale fixed gear of his own. Wow, it was night and day on his. Just much larger and wider handlebars.
For kicks this evening I tackled some parking decks to just get some more exercise. I did too many skid stops I guess b/c the lockring came loose in the back and the headset is loose too. Dangit I don't have tools for this yet & I planned to go ride on a 20 +/-5 ride tomorrow.

nice shots. I almost bought a cross fixed gear. They are pricey though for a decent one.
