The motor in my car has had a pretty mean rod knock when cold for about three years now, so track days are out of the question. I think the biggest negative is that everything left I want to do to the car consists of sending $3,000+


I love my car and have had it for 6 years almost now, but when it's all said and done I was raised with rough around the edges American cars with loud V8s and nothing fancy. I guess I just want to go back to my roots and build something that will bring me a whole new level of joy. If I had the room and funds to keep the Civic and build something else from the ground up I would do it in a second. Someday though the Civic and I will part ways and a WAY older car will be in the garage. Pre 1955 for sure.

I rode around in my friend's Harvard Blue DX hatch with a stock LS when I was 13, so about 1998 and I was hooked at that point. The sound, the look, the feel of everything made me excited to drive around in it. That feeling was shot to the ground when I rode in my neighbors 400HP small block 67 Chevelle........ I ended up with an EG 4 years later due to practicality reasons, but always wanted something older and with more style/history.

For me, I'll finish my EG and then I'll have this car for a long time. I really enjoy driving and will take it to work here and there. I doubt I'll track it (maybe once or twice) but for me, a nice drive to work and cruising around here and there will be great.

However, my next project will for sure be a year 1 mustang, for my wife. She's always wanted one and I'm going to make that happen.

you do not want to daily drive a s2000. tsx would be your best bet of the cars you listed for a daily driver

I'll be 25 in June and I have been driving modded Hondas for almost 8 years now and know what you mean with the theft. I park my truck up against my garage door with a car next to my car in the garage and all the doors barricaded and the garage door opener unplugged when I go out of town and I don't even live in Cali. Oklahoma City has been really bad the last few years and I don't put anything past some desperate thieves.

 

OKC huh ... spent a few years there. I was stationed there in 97 - 00 and when I came to town from ATL there were NO quick guys there. (guy named Mike from AudioPlus in Midwest City had a fast EF hatch) and a few guys from Trizone Motorsports (edmond) were quick. I had a cut up (no1 knew this - LOL. That car was a tin can) H22 CB7 on spray. When I got to town I took down a few v8 guys - and every1 was telling me that I needed to run Jason (Extreme Motorsports) Prelude - blower + nitrous. We talked smack to each other for 3 months (not directly, just word of mouth through mutual friends). We finally met up on a tire in Jun of 98 out by the club called "The Edge" near MacArthur BLVD where I proceeded to RAPE HIM for 3 runs. Shop owner goes down by a lil kid from ATL w/ no local friends. LOL. Funny thing was I dealing w/ Chuck Seitsinger at the Honda Dealership and didn't know that fast forward 10 years he'd be the guy to beat in OK. Humble beginnings - LOL. We still keep lose tabs on each other actually... pics from my last trip out west last year w/ my 200shot built LS wagovan - these pics are after a day of shootin' the **** w/ Chuck. He had a pretty clean EG hatch (GSR) FS - it may still be available.

I have heard from many people that it has gotten kinda bad out there w/ the thefts since then. I left in 2000 but I'm sorry to hear that you can't really enjoy your creations w/out keeping an eye open.

 

I've been in Oklahoma 10 years now, moved here when I was 14. Can't beat the cheap cost of living, nice people and the crazy weather, but theft has gotten pretty bad in the last 5 years or so. I know a lot of people who frequent Chuck's shop and always look forward to him bringing his 8 second Civic out to Thunder Valley from time to time.

 

I daily a s2k, whats wrong with that? Okay, I dont daily daily it anymore, but I did when my civic was down, I didnt have any problems with it.

 

im not saying you CANT daily a s2000. hell, you can daily a model T if you want too. i just would never daily my s2000.

1. its not comfortable for my 85 mile commute.
2. there is no room to put anything.
3. suspension beats you to death.
4. gas mileage isnt anything like my hatch.
5. dont want to rack up the miles

its a weekend warrior and it will never be anything more. its makes it that much more enjoyable when i do get the time to take it on a cruise(which is usually about an hour a week on a sunday morning. )

 

I know many people that daily their S - and they are street-fighters (built) sitting on Strange suspension and boosted/blown w/ Recaros. I think the prob comes when you have an S as your only vehicle - it's not practical. Otherwise - go for it.

85 miles day in any car is just not fun.for me i only have to travel 15-20 mile to work and back. so everyone's lives are different. No Matter What Car I Myself will get into, IT WILL NEVER BE STOCK. I just Cant Control myself to atleast Drop the car and get a clean set of wheels, if it's Clean and Low its for me. i was just stating what everyone else was saying. just that when something goes wrong with my hatch Sometime you Really Dont fell like working on it. I Even Talk to my Car saying" After All Ive Done for You,You Go and Do this To Me!" lol.
After you Put almost 10k into a civic, you will deff Need a Second Car. And something like a S2k, Tsx, or TL i think is perfect for Daily. and just when i get that Itch that brings me happiness the Eg comes out.

Nahh not any time soon, I used to do a bit of auto X for fun and I usually have it out at PR every summer. Im going to be buying an S2K once I get settled with the new job and will prob keep the civic just for fun and track the S2K if there is a road course near by.

No luck with the EM1. I might as well consider it a lost cause because I keep calling the local authorities and they tell me the same response everytime, "We will call you when we hear something".

I'm sure it's stripped, hacked to pieces, or some punk kid is having the time of his life with a weak B16 engine.

 

 

Honestly im not really sure what else to do to the EG besides just change parts around lol When we retune for the new turbo it should make right around 350whp and I pretty much have all the other parts I wanted for it.

After I move I may try to get it in a mag, maybe turbo K swap, wire tuck and a few more flashy parts lol

That sucks, car theft is such a crappy thing to do to some one. Was it insured at least? What area did it get taken from?
