neophyte210 - what brake MC are you running with this set up? i've just installed my 5-lug swap and i also have the spoon calipers (brand new, not installed yet), but i'm afraid that the stock MC isn't enough to push the 4-piston spoons.
the GSR/ITR 1" MC's require bending/flaring or SS lines, whereas an Integra RS 15/16 MC supposedly bolts rite on...which one are you using (unless you're on the stock civic one!)?
thanks dood

I'm using an Integra RS booster which is similar to the ITR booster. The master cylinder I'm using is from a 91 Civic EX 4 door. Bolts right in, and is also a 15/16. You won't have to reflare the lines. I have a 5 lug as well, with ITR calipers/rotors front and rear. I bought the master cylinder from autozone which is a rebuilt nissin unit, just like the factory master cylinder. Cost me only 50 bucks.
I would HIGHLY suggest upgrading the booster and master cylinder. It made a world of difference in stopping power. Also, upgrade to Motul 600 fluid and some hawk pads and you'll be good to go.

so if i put in the RS MC, i'll have to reflare my lines?
i've got a GSR 1" with boost at the moment, but not installed yet seeing as there's 1 hardline that won't line up (without modding that is). the stock MC isn't too bad with the 5-lug rite now, but the pedal is a bit lower than before.
i'm just worried about pushing enough fluid for the Spoon calipers i have...
and i was debating buying a brand new RS MC from work (i work at Acura) instead of a used one as well (fresh seals)...is the '91 EX the same thing then?
thanks for your help btw

so if i put in the RS MC, i'll have to reflare my lines?
- From what I remember, yes you'd have to reflare your lines, depending on the year. I believe if the RS MC is for a DA, then you won't have to reflare it. If I were you, I'd do more research on that. But I know for a fact because I got the idea here on HT, that a 91 EX (specify that its for a FOUR DOOR) 15/16 MC will fit a DC RS Booster, and I'm using it now.
i've got a GSR 1" with boost at the moment, but not installed yet seeing as there's 1 hardline that won't line up (without modding that is).
-Yup you're correct. What you can do is get a custom stainless steel braided line made, which I have from Earl's as I was planning to do a 1" MC, but my plans changed. I paid 75 for that damn line, but if you want it, I can take a picture and sell it for 50 shipped. Its brand spanking new, never used. And its made to fit a 1" MC.
the stock MC isn't too bad with the 5-lug rite now, but the pedal is a bit lower than before.
-Have you bled your brakes? I agree, the stock EG MC is ok for the 5 lug if you're not planning on tracking the car at all, but I plan on tracking my car so I felt I needed the bigger MC.
i'm just worried about pushing enough fluid for the Spoon calipers i have...
-I would highly suggest upgrading your stock EG booster and MC especially for those nice spoon calipers.
and i was debating buying a brand new RS MC from work (i work at Acura) instead of a used one as well (fresh seals)...is the '91 EX the same thing then?
-Now that I think about it, when I bought my used RS booster it came with an RS MC, both made for a DC, and the MC's lines did not line up at all. So back to your first question, the RS MC brake line ports do not line up to our stock EG brake lines.
When I compared the 91 EX MC to the RS MC, they are EXACTLY the same. There was no difference in SIZE. The only difference was the brake port configuration. The 91 EX MC brake ports line up PERFECTLY to our stock brake lines. No need for further modification.
Now, what others have said, is that the 91 EX MC will fit perfectly on a stock EG booster. That wasn't the case when I tried it out. It only fit on my RS booster. On the stock EG booster, the 91 EX MC would not seal flush.
thanks for your help btw
--NP, good luck. Honestly, 50 bucks for a 91 EX MC, you can't go wrong. And it works. Check out my engine pics
