EEWAGON squad thread
Hmmm...never been in a squad before. Would this count?
I recently purchased a 1990 Wagovan from H-T member @ries. I was trusting enough to send a chashier's check for $4,550.00 to a guy I've never met, to buy a car I've never seen in person nor driven, and I could not be happier with the outcome.
$775.00 dollars and 4 days later the Wagovan arrived from it's old home in San Diego, CA 2150 miles away to southside ATL, GA.
Car is immaculate - better than pics @ries took depicted! Runs amazingly well, with no quirks to speak of. Taking some time to get used to hard urethane mounts, but that goes with a B-powered EF I suppose.
Normally I'd never buy someone else's built car, but my wife I preggo, and I wanted a solid DD to replace my 1991 DX hatchy - loading child/rear facing child seat into 2 dr hatchback = fail.
I told my wife I wanted a grey Wagovan since they had the nice grey interior, or if I could find a red RT4WD with grey insides that'd work too. @ries's wagovan is literally 100% to a T exactly how I'd imagined my ideal Wagovan would be.
My wagon search found me nothing but rusted rear 1/4 paneled stockish crap wagons. For some reason the southeast has virtually no wagons around, and the ones I did find were usually northern cars that were rust buckets.
I did find one super clean white/blue interior 90K orig. miled Wagon on Ebay, but it was an auto, had dime-sized rust spots on rear 1/4 panels, and sold for $2,600.00!!! - bone freaking stock!!! Why would I pay that much for one with an auto, blue insides, some rust, and in need of sooo much work to make it bearable for me to drive? Instead I got the grey one seen below.
Anyways here's pics - I took some day shots - nothing "photo shoot" worthy.
The body is super straight:

...for pulling up hills - 68K OBD1 B18B1 with all new belts, waterpump, seals, etc.

...for slowing when going down hill - 15/16ths m/c to match DA front 10.4'' brakes:

Custom a/c bracket - HASport or AZ machine:

...speaking of AZ Race Machine:

Inside:

Underside:

If you're a wagonist then you know how hard some of the "little" things are to find for these damn things:

Flaps and HKS OG exhaust for CR-X modded to fit:

Front chin - 89 Integra trimmed to fit:

JDM shuttle lights/corners:

Right now it's rolling on 14'' meshies, but I'm having these wheels pictured below painted - spokes will be matte black finish:

Little did my dumb *** know that when I pulled the bols out of the 3-piece Black Racing wheels that I'd have to have them resealed, so I'll be rolling on 15'' steelies for a week or two until I get the Black Racing wheels finished with new tires on them.
That's all for now - maybe I'll get some better "photoshoot" style pics once the new wheels/tires are mounted!

lol @ reading your post than re-reading it here. Great find on the Wago! I flew to SoCal to pick mine up a couple months ago and couldn't be happier. How many miles does the body have on it? I just turned over 240K and it looks brand new.
Why does everyone have to bust on the blue interior?

Sorry about the delay for those waiting for pics

The speaker pods are in perfect condition on the outside....as you can see in the pics the one has the mounting portion broken. All you would need is a large washer or cover it ...It will still hold just fine and can't be seen when mounted.

I have no use for this stuff..any offer takes them. Just want to help out the fellow wagon owners.

I've only seen one Vtec enabled Wagovan (the one that was repainted that super nice dark green..Edit: wait...there was the white one to that someone got for a steal). I see a lot of 18Bs, and obviously ZCs...compared to the EF's which seem to be almost all 16A swaps at this point. Is there something really hard about the B16/18 swap in a Wagovan that keeps people away?

NO. Theres many wagons with B series. VTEC and nonVTEC. Just gotta know where your looking. There was one posted earlier in this thread thats a Bseries/vtec/AWD wagon too.
Plus Dr.Charles K wagon. Matt's AWD Turbo wagon.
There just like any other "EF" 88-91 chassis. You can pretty much throw anything in them.
edit, check out HondaCivicWagon.com

I'd rather have the slightly slower B18B in my wagon than a B16A.
Heavier wagon + no torque B16A = no fun

heavier than what? you make it sound like the wagon is 1k lbs heavier than the other 88-91 models.

Okay let me rephrase:
B16A has no torque
...having said that it seems most wagonists seem to want a bit more functionality and daily usage from their wagons, myself included.
I've owned a B16A2, B18C1, D16Z6, 11:1CR D16A6, B18C5, and B18B and out of them all the B16A2 was the worst to drive daily in terms of no pull below say, 6200rpm.
The B16A2 I had was in a 1992 Si hatch - arguably similiar weight to a wagon perhaps, and it pulled nicely if revving to 8200rpm all the time.
Most people don't get wagons to be boy racers spinning the engine to 8K all the time.
...maybe I'm wrong and I only speak for myself. I prefer the sub 3000rpm torque/pull from the LS swap in my wagon to the high strung B16A. In a drag race the B16A should be quicker than an LS engine stock for stock, but for me my wagon isn't for drag racing. I leave the competitive stuff to my stripped B18C5 92 CX.

Well, let me start off by saying, No HONDA has TQ!
As far as b16 -vs- B18b. well for me it comes down to tranny.
B16 tranny LS motor, best of both worlds.
I've also owned my share of cars with many diffrent swaps. But the B16 not having any pull is just a little hard for me to swallow. My daily 89' hatch has a B16 and I love it, My 1st "drag car; was a crx with a B16. But I do see your point that for a "daily familey car". The extra displacement of the 1.8 would ne nicer.
Guess it's best to agree to disagree.

Im a member @ HCW, but even there I was surprised at the ratio of non-Vtec cars to Vtec ones. I guess since the AWD cars would be plug and play for the 18B, vs. doing wiring for the 16A it is the easier choice, and keeping the AWD usually means D series. It makes sense, just seems like the opposite ratio compared to most EF's. But...we are oddballs anyway.

who's car is that???? i havent seen it yet??
how hard would it be to do some thing like that, i am guessing that you would use the CRV tranny?
