Race glaze is just a polishing compound, rather than an abrasive, cutting compund.
"cut" = sanding off a layer or two.
Now, you will have to excuse me, its 60* out for the first time in months, im ditching class to be outside; bye.</TD></TR></TABLE>
a) How much more aggressive? Start with 800 grit?
b) "Cutting" doesn't sound to appealing...
c) Do I really need 2 different compounds? This is getting confusing.

I picked up my rear tranny bracket for my swap, as well as the two-bolt driver's side mount...just need a tranny, front tranny bracket, tranny mount (mine is for an auto so it needs either a spacer ot to be replaced with longer manual one), clutch/pressure plate, and shift linkage before the motor is in the car.
So are you guys sure ITR shift linkage won't work in a sol? I have two friends who say they have done it and it fit fine, but then someone in here said no. I must know!

I cant remember what i started with.... but if i remember right, i did like 5 or 6 steps of just sandpapers: i think i went over the car for one reason or another something like 10 times.
And if you want it to turn out really shiny, you will want 2 different compounds.

10 times? Did you even leave any clearcoat on? A bit of an overkill don't ya think? But I guess you know from expirience... I can't wait till friday to start on my extra fender and headlights.

you'll need the VTEC shift linkage.
you'll need the VTEC shift linkage.
Whats up James cant help but notice your lil dilema...well when I was the parts guy at the body shop where my sol was painted I picked up a thing or two...
wet sand with 1500 Grit 1st (3M sand papaer is good stuff)
then sand with 2000
then buff with 3M rubbing compound
Then Wax and bam u are done...
Try to keep your hand flat while sanding...
Its a good idea to cover the drain vents under the windshield with newspaper...
tape off all the rubber and plastic pieces...
be careful on ridges because its easy to get carried away and burn the paint...

I'm in the same boat as james. My Sol hasnt been wetsanded after the paint job so it has a lot of orange peel. Do you know the average price of a wetsand and buff? I'm thinking about getting someone to do it for me since I'm not too excited about sanding my car lol. I still gotta find out if my car is 1 stage paint or not otherwise I'm stuck with this orange peel

For you guys looking to wet sand the cars be sure to use a hard rubber sanding block instead of your hand.
Carefull on the edges though.
I have a Little bit of orange peel on my door I may try to work out this spring. using this method.
