its a fairly big deal... make sure you have a good jack and jack stands. the hardest part is getting to all the bolts. and MAKE SURE YOU TAKE OUT THE STARTER SOLENOID BOLT!!! ITS HUGE AND WILL HOLD THE TRANNY TO THE MOTOR BY ITSELF... found that out after yanking on mine for about 2 hours and wondering WHY THE [freak] this bitch wouldnt come off haha, i felt retarded.

and getting the splines lined back up to get the tranny back on is a pretty huge bitch as well. bottom line... if you can find a reputable place to do it for like $150-200... get them to do it instead of doing it in your garage, but it is do-able, just get ready for some frustrating times.

It's an absolute bitch....when I still had the hatch I did it myself the first time.....Murphy's law was in FULL effect...took me almost 12 hours total and a lot of bashed knuckles. 2nd time around I took it to a very reputable shop that did it for 300 (with the flywheel install being included) and had it back to me that night. air tools, a lift and having done it 100s if not 1000s of times make a huge difference LOL

Justin! here's two more interior shots!

oh as for the clutch/tranny job i think its pretty straightforward. you may want help your first time but after that it should be a breeze.
dont get me wrong... its STILL and always will be a pain in the *** but a breeze nonetheless

oh wow, thanks for bringing that up
chris, i never even asked you what motor you had when u wanted a price for the clutch
the price i gave you was for b-series lol

oh and i hate doing clutches more than any other job for a car
just such a PITA and I might as well take out the whole motor for that amount of work, since it would be easier working with out out of the car rather than halfway in
I mean the job is not that bad or hard to do at all, and I can probably do a b-series in under an hour at full speed, my buddies took out his tranny in his del sol in 20 min lol
(but k-series is a different story specially on a k-series car, like DC5 or EP3, with the subframe and everything)
but things get in the way like turbo-kits, traction bars, etc that make an already unpleasant job even more frustrating

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by broketuner-Sol_Si &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">It's an absolute bitch....when I still had the hatch I did it myself the first time.....Murphy's law was in FULL effect...took me almost 12 hours total and a lot of bashed knuckles. 2nd time around I took it to a very reputable shop that did it for 300 (with the flywheel install being included) and had it back to me that night. air tools, a lift and having done it 100s if not 1000s of times make a huge difference LOL</TD></TR></TABLE>
very true about the lift and tools
i've only worked with tools and lift, have/would never do on the ground and ESPECIALLY not outside lol (i have taken a motor outside with a jack and stand but thats it)
and even with the right equipment I still wouldn't want to do them even tho they pay good money
$300 is a pretty good price and worth it just to keep your hand/knuckles free of bandages
