Sorry I didn't post up the details last night, I got home and passed out!
Yesterday was one of my last days for spring break and I didn't have work so I decided to work on the Sol.
Plan was:
1. Replace throw-out bearing because I forgot to change it when I installed my ACT clutch.
2. Replace stock oil pump with toga oil pump so I don't have to worry about that when I boost.
3. Replace my thermostat because mine was stuck and wasn't working. Now I got heat
4. Fix/Replace my water pump because I had a whining noise at higher RPMs. I bought a new pump but when I took out my old one it was fine so I reinstalled it. It's only 3000 miles old.
Turns out that my timing belt was too tight and was causing the noise.
5. Replace my Vtec solenoid seals because they were leaking a little bit. VTAK kick in strong now
6. Took out the tranny and cleaned it from the oil leaks and looks decent now.
I think I did one more thing but I can't remember right now.
Well anyway, since I had to take out my tranny, I had to disconnect my shift linkage.
When I was taking them out I noticed that the screw was a little loose and pulled it right out.
I didn't really think about it much, but finally at 9PM when I finished, i started to drive home.
I put in the bolt and tightened it but I noticed that it wouldn't screw in for some reason. I guess because I have been working on the car for 9 hours, I didn't really think too much but I left it a lone.
On the HWY, I was shifting of course and noticed it felt really soft and disgusting. I took an exit to buy something from the store for my mom.
I came to the read light and tried to shift into first and i noticed I couldn't shift at all. I get out of the car and see the shift linkage dangling on the ground.
I called someone and got a piece of rope and wrapped the shift linkage LOL.
I drove home and installed a new screw
Here's the thing, I have no [freak]ing clue, how the built in nut got threaded out. It was perfectly file before. My only guess is that my the shuddar from the 6-puck forced the bolt out over time....
OHHH, and one more thing. When we were finally finished, we installed the axles of course and my ball joint on the driver side was demolished. We were trying to tighten the nut on the bottom but the entire joint kept on turning.
We grabbed the ball joint by pliers and were able to turn the nut a few times and put the bitch pin in.
Also noticed that my tie rods needs to be replaced.
I guess installing the suspension last week really made them week because they were **** already.
Now I gotta order new tie rods, ball joints, and bump stops.
I got an *** load of work before I think about touching anything on the sol again.
Me being at all, I don't know wtf I'm gonna do. I need to do it on a week day because I have to go to a shop to press in the new ball joints.
So I'm driving the car extermely easy right now to make sure that the shift linkage doesn't go anywhere and hopefully my suspension holds up for a month till I finish my finals
wow, sorry about the long post
