if its the same tire (make and model) than you're looking at a bunch of other factors, like tire stretch and sidewall flex.
also, the fact that the 16" has a bigger diameter also contributes to a larger contact patch.

did u address your wheel hop issues?
if not, be careful with sticker tires....breaking axles isnt fun.

Re: (Spec R)
The car sat in @ a mechanics shop cause the owner didnt wanna pay for the work. we have been trying to buy it for the past 2 years. she's really dirty and dusty, but it took me 2 days and i had her running!
Picking up a set of 15" slips from my buddy in about a week. the rims on it came on it.

He speaks the truth.
Now before I throw out my worthless $.02, I would suggest a 205/45 profile tire for a 16x7 wheel. Its a more comfortable ride and adds protection for your wheels in the event you come across harsh roads. Not to mention, its the suggested tire fitment for a 16x7 wheel on a db.
With a 15x6.5 wheel and a 195/50 profile tire, you'll have a good deal of sidewall flex in comparison to 205/45 tire on a 16x7. Contact patch would be hard to figure out, because adjusting your tire pressure can increase/decrease your contact area.
If you're looking for performance from your tire, just dont cheat yourself and cheap out on them. I'll tell you from personal experience that its not worth the savings. I made the mistake of picking up all season tires instead of summer tires.
