Re: ** The offical 96-00 civic 4dr thread ** PART 3
Went to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway this past Saturday. Got there at 4pm just in time for 1 session. I got out of my daily civic to grab a ViP armband (im good friends with the event organizers) and jumped into my brother's mild evo 8 MR and set a lap of 1:59.83 missing the fastest time of the weekend by just 0.14 seconds set by a Porsche cup car i believe.
Party'd til midnight then went back home lol
sorry no decent pics of the car i tracked but it looks like any other evo out there with gawdy body kit and some aero

Well I got rear ended yesterday on I-4. The kid was on his phone when he hit me but thankfully we were going slow and just dented the rear bump and chipped some paint off it. I popped out the dent on the rear bumper just going to leave it how it is. I just finished getting the interior cleaned on Monday lol.

LoL joel. My brothers evo hasnt seen many changes since 07. Full voltex kit. Tomei stuff under the hood (cams, mani and turbine, etc).
We have just been recently working our way back to actually making it a more reliable track car. We even ditched the problematic project u big brakes and went back to stock with just better pads for now. The big old honking turbo it had that net the car to 450whp was also scrapped for a decent sized tomei unit.
Most importantly, the new tune is now super responsive. Even for evo noobs, 299whp and 300tq doesn't sound impressive but this is a MR with the shorter ratio 6spd trans, so its pretty good. I've actually took a liking to this heavy beast. Now to actually convince him to get a front diff and lighten d car...we shall see.

I know man same here I got lucky. I have a question for you all motor guys about exhaust and piping. I have a b18c going to be putting ITBs on it. We are doing 2.5 piping to apexi ws2 exhaust. The car is my daily I don't want it to be loud so would you guys recommend a cat converter as well? I have heard all motor with straight piping to exhaust it's not that loud. However, I have had some people tell me it's going to be loud and sound like crap.

If it's a street car it should have a converter on it, period.
This is the one you need for your setup:
Note that the 48 state ones are junk. Spend the extra money and get a CA legal one. The big difference with them is that the CARB legal ones are required to carry a longer warranty than the 48 state ones, and are therefore built to higher standards.

I think it's been nearly 10 years since I posted something on here. Haha
finally got my hands on a local clean white sedan. (Impossible to find a rust free one here in mn) As soon as I saw it on the lot, I took out my credit card. Haha

GMG!!
Me personally, I negate the fact that hi flow cats and cats even exist. But don't listen to me because that's not sound advice.
Nothing like the smell of 91 catching up to you at the stop light :D
Not necessarily. There's a efficiency battle going on there. Properly built machines run better than stock cars. I've seen K swap cars that pass emissions cleaner than stock RSXs with a cat. I'm not saying, "everyone, start tossing your cats out the window," 'cuz there's a place and time for everything. There's a point where one or will destroy the other. In the future I do plan on giving a hi flow cat a try and get some first hand data for myself.
Agreed.
Welcome back Sam!

Well...so it's finally happening!!! Joel has all (almost all) of the parts to get the bottom end machined and assembled. It's only been like years in the making, and now it's happening. Also...I'm scared because this car should just a little fun.

Replaced pretty much all the suspension bushings on this thing. New tie rods too. And in search of an oem front lip which is weirdly hard to get. This is pretty much how it will be when i leave it for my son next week.
