Back on the brake subject, I was running the stock LX/DX brake setup up front, with RS rear disc and SI prop valve w/stock 13/16" mc/bb setup. Then I swithced to EX spindles with SI calipers and the same rear and everything seemed to work for me. Now I plan on running S2k calipers, GSR rear disc w/ABS removed, SI prop valve and 7/8" SI/EX mc/bb. My question is if upgrading to the LS mc/bb which is 15/16" or even the GSR 1" is anyone 100% sure about not having to rebend lines? I think that might apply to you all with EX w/abs equipped vehicles. Since mine has no ABS my research indicates that using anything bigger then the 15/16" I would have to rebend 2 of the lines as they won't bolt up. Anyone with a LX/DX setup switched mc/bb to 15/16" or 1" give me their $0.02?

ex/si calipers are the same. i just talked with lolujdm and his car is not abs so he has to use the em1 propv valve. if i were u id switch to a 1" master cylinder for s2k calipers. 15/16 might be to small. if u dont go ABS u dont have to change any lines and u can keep the em1 prop valve. i switched my mc from a 7/8 to a 1" w/o bending lines.. my car is ABS tho

Unless your running dual piston calipers, 15/16 civic si and 7/8 general, are more than enough for any honda calipers. A 1" MC will create a very Grabby Pedal.

So basic run down:

Dual Piston = 1"
4 disc = 15/16
2 disc 2 drum = 7/8 or 15/16

i have a 1'' itr mc with a usdm itr 5lug. the brake feel is just right. not grabby at all. the 15/16 might work to. i ran my 5lug with my stock 7/8 for a little bit and the pedal was WAY too soft. almost went to the floor

I don't plan on going abs as I removed the sensors from the GSR rear disc. I had EX spindles and calipers but when they stole my car and stripped they took the entire spindle and rear disc. Soon after I found an SI at the junkyard and took the entire spindles, calipers and LCAs from that car. I know the caliper and spindle are the same, but I needed the EX/SI spindle to use the 10.3" brakes up front rather then the puny 9.5" and I wanted the LCA to run the bigger front sway bar. I'll most likely just get a 15/16" LS teg BB.

gotcha! some ppl say u have to change the BB when getting the MC as well. some MC have a pin that comes out the MC but for some reason the MC i used didnt have one. so i didnt have to change my BB. im still confused on that subject as well

Ya when I'm stumped on interchangability I just go to the junkyard and start piecing things together so that's probably where I'll head to and see. I paired some Legend calipers to some integra spindles and arms and come up with alot of combos, well partly due to brakexperts writeups. Anyhow thanks for the info.

Well my lip and springs showed up today. Gonna stop when I get off work and get a rivet gun and some rivets for the lip. I figured that would be the best way to mount it. Hopefully I can get this stuff done over my long weekend.

scheezy, leave the glue on and work over it.

1in master cylinder wont feel all grabby unless you get the booster with it. if you just do the MC then you will actually have to push harder. your foot will travel less distance, but you will have to push harder. brake force pressure boosters are what affect the feel at your foot. MC pistons affect the volume as well as feel. if you need more volume, you need a bigger MC. if you want a softer pedal you need a bigger brake force pressure booster. running a 15/16 or 1in master cylinder on our cars requires not modification for the lines from the MC to prop valve.

Joel, i didn't realize a pic of my car at the top of the page i was on my phone since last night and it wont let me see images but thanks for posting a throwback. its been a yr and a half since it was painted.
btw, if u are not rushing about those GSR rear abs sensors, u can have mine when i pull them out. im planning to further upgrade my rear brakes once again and once and for all taking ABS off while the swap is being done.
im meeting up with di2ferio later to pick up my newly acquired parts :giddy:
sad to see his car go/parted out but his parts will live on through with mine.

so I followed your advice and took off my IACV.. now how the hell do I take it apart to clean it? or should I just soak in carb cleaner? I am going to try 99.9% alcohol to see if it does anything.

I googled this morning to find out what and where is the IACV. the person said to clean it with brake cleaner or simple green

awesome thank you, I saw another instruction from another car and he pulled back a spring...I was kinda looking for a way to disassemble it a bit more.

anyway, I just biked to a nearby 24hr mechanics and I had to bargain with some middle eastern dude to sell me some friggen brake cleaner! at first he told me they had none!!

the IACV is soaking right now... I'll leave it overnight then spray it again and see what happens tomorrow.

and thank you Sir Ash, Battle, and Port for the help.. I wish I could be more helpful

LOL quite true. I'm anxious to do my ABS disc swap. Nothing better than a fully functional car, that looks good as well. I am not down talking anyone but the reason I haven't lowered my car or put the rims on are due to the hideous drums.

- side note: I do not recommend/advocate racing, but I had to engage a m35 on a freeway on ramp today, if it was a togue, he would have lost! He had a car length ahead of me from the start of the on ramp, at the exit I was a fender ahead, but my sohc did not have enough guts to maximize exit speed against a 3.5L ( inside joke - I think a 2.0L ITR sounds Nice about now bwah haha ahaha )

Yes I can patiently wait, I'm in no major rush. Thank you for saying so, I appreciate it the offer. I guess I can black out some trim for you now. LOL Good luck w/ the new upgrades!
