Shultz, good point. No wife at this point, but my GF hates the bouncy ride lol. Wish i had some $ because I'm actually getting sick of it bouncing around as well after almost a year.

yup. if its a "good deal," multply the purchase price by 2.5 and thats your actual "deal."
i bet there are symptoms of serious wear & tear starting to show.

if i had to do it all over again, i'd just build a solid LS/B20-VTEC.

Nah, I'm gonna rock the sohc. Going to stay N/A with it and do ITB's with some slight modifications to the head and block. That's what I was kinda thinkin on the JRSC, that's why he's selling it.

Nope, its a '68 Ford Falcon. The '66-70 birds never get the respect they deserve. For some reason everyone like the 60-65 Falcons.... why, I have no clue. I've got huge plans for my baby, sadly theres only enought time and money for one car so the sedan is pushed to daily transport only while I try to get things rolling for the Falcon.

to you guys thinking about a Jackson supercharger. ponder this, the vanes/screws on the charger eventually wear out and the ability to produce efficient boost goes down. but more importantly, that charger is wearing away, and those pieces end up in the worst place ever. if you want boost, don't use vane technology superchargers. that stuff was invented decades ago and is inferior to newer technology which doesn't feed your engine bits and crumbs of metal. things to think about.

Port I didn't even think about that. Yeah I could pass on feeding my engine bits of metal. I'm gonna keep it N/A and more than likely do ITB's. I've heard they can be a pain but I've got hookups at shops around here so I'm not too worried about it.

the thing about ITB's is that since the runners do not share a common plenum/chamber, the overall airfl0w the engine is pumping cannot be equalized before it goes through. because of this all ITB's succumb to the usually frequent need to synchronize the airfl0w using at least a dual gauge synchronizing gauge, although a 4 guage is preferred since you can sync all 4 throttle bodies without having to connect and disconnect things. just faster. and when ITB's begin to go out of sync, the engine runs like poo unless it's wide open (usually ITB's only run good wide open anyway). intake manifolds help to get rid of this need of synchronization by using one throttle body and a intake manifold. there are also many other benefits to running a intake manifold. ideally the intake and exhaust system should be designed as one.

Port, you sir are full of useful information. You have given me something else to think about. I wasn't planning on doing them until I get a little more info on them, but they were the plan. I may just build it all motor and see if I'm happy with it then. I would hate to know where I'd be without this bunch.

no prob man, just giving my opinion and advice. stay away from messing with the stuff that engineers took decades to figure out, and you will usually be ok. play with the fun stuff, leave the power plant alone... or get a bigger one. my .02

Haha. Good point. As for the powerplant, I'd like to keep the SOHC but it's looking like I may go DOHC. The aftermarket support is crazy for the dual cams and not so much for the single cams anymore. I think I would come out about the same in costs to do the swap as to building this motor, turbo, or supercharging. Turbo's are what I mostly see the single cam guys running, but it's just too much headache to deal with. That's why I'm not wanting to go that route. Guess I need to get it together and get a plan set in stone and go with it.

dont bother building a dseries all motor. sure there are ppl that swear by it but in the end u'll drop a lot of money w/o the satisfaction.

some sweet setups w/ plenty of power that are decently cost effective (depending on what your goals, what parts, etc) are: LS/B20vtec, JDM B18C/CR or b18b1 + turbo. if u have money to burn go fer k20/k24 swap.

im picking up a Hondata K-Pro this saturday.
and my Skunk2 Kseries manifold, clutch and flywheel and Sparkks conversion harness next.
just 2-3 items left and the car will be ready for the much anticipated surgery.
Wow Battle, Looks good, I still like the red, but black is good. I feel you should just sell me the black ones.

roll them for a while and enjoy! you can always repaint later, this way you never get tired of them quickly.

If N/A is your choice go with a DOHC, it takes way too much $ and work to get real amounts of power from SOHCs, unless you go FI (turbo).

I had a semi-built h22 before my car was stolen and loved it. With that setup auto-x was out of the question. Now that I'm rebuilding with an emphasis on cost saving purposes I'm sticking to the SOHC (semi-built turbo) and hoping to hit the slopes. So I’m trying to stay cost effective, and maintain the stock geometry and weight ratio for the car.

There are so many cheap DOHC power plants out there such as b18bs, b20s, hell b16s are pretty affordable too. I managed to pick up a k20a3 a couple months back for my 03 coupe for a steal, even though it’s the weakling of the K-series. In all honestly it depends on 3 things. 1) How much you have to spend, 2) What you want out of the car, and 3) what you are using it for. Pick your poison though, because in the end you are the one driving it.
