Shultz, good point. No wife at this point, but my GF hates the bouncy ride lol. Wish i had some $ because I'm actually getting sick of it bouncing around as well after almost a year.
Re: ** The offical 96-00 civic 4dr thread ** PART 2
Unsure of the mileage and what has been done to it. Yeah it's the SOHC unit, but it makes me wonder why he's selling now. Prob. not worth it. I was wanting to go with the sc, but I think I'm gonna go the other route me and a buddy was talking about. And no it's not a turbo either.
i bet there are symptoms of serious wear & tear starting to show.
if i had to do it all over again, i'd just build a solid LS/B20-VTEC.
Re: ** The offical 96-00 civic 4dr thread ** PART 2
Nah, I'm gonna rock the sohc. Going to stay N/A with it and do ITB's with some slight modifications to the head and block. That's what I was kinda thinkin on the JRSC, that's why he's selling it.
Re: ** The offical 96-00 civic 4dr thread ** PART 2
Nope, its a '68 Ford Falcon. The '66-70 birds never get the respect they deserve. For some reason everyone like the 60-65 Falcons.... why, I have no clue. I've got huge plans for my baby, sadly theres only enought time and money for one car so the sedan is pushed to daily transport only while I try to get things rolling for the Falcon.

Is that a ZR1? man your friends have all the cool cars mmcsiggi! geez torque thrust II's look good on any muscle car
sorry schultz, can't help ya on that one. i recommend anyone who has plans to adjust their ride height run coilovers, but that's not always possible for everyone. i know very little about mix and match set ups, sry!
the 50's tbirds were super cool IMO, cooler than the vette of that gen.
super late GMG, er uh GAG? haha, i think im getting sick

to you guys thinking about a Jackson supercharger. ponder this, the vanes/screws on the charger eventually wear out and the ability to produce efficient boost goes down. but more importantly, that charger is wearing away, and those pieces end up in the worst place ever. if you want boost, don't use vane technology superchargers. that stuff was invented decades ago and is inferior to newer technology which doesn't feed your engine bits and crumbs of metal. things to think about.

Port, you sir are full of useful information. You have given me something else to think about. I wasn't planning on doing them until I get a little more info on them, but they were the plan. I may just build it all motor and see if I'm happy with it then. I would hate to know where I'd be without this bunch.
Re: ** The offical 96-00 civic 4dr thread ** PART 2
no prob man, just giving my opinion and advice. stay away from messing with the stuff that engineers took decades to figure out, and you will usually be ok. play with the fun stuff, leave the power plant alone... or get a bigger one. my .02

Re: ** The offical 96-00 civic 4dr thread ** PART 2
Haha. Good point. As for the powerplant, I'd like to keep the SOHC but it's looking like I may go DOHC. The aftermarket support is crazy for the dual cams and not so much for the single cams anymore. I think I would come out about the same in costs to do the swap as to building this motor, turbo, or supercharging. Turbo's are what I mostly see the single cam guys running, but it's just too much headache to deal with. That's why I'm not wanting to go that route. Guess I need to get it together and get a plan set in stone and go with it.

some sweet setups w/ plenty of power that are decently cost effective (depending on what your goals, what parts, etc) are: LS/B20vtec, JDM B18C/CR or b18b1 + turbo. if u have money to burn go fer k20/k24 swap.

If N/A is your choice go with a DOHC, it takes way too much $ and work to get real amounts of power from SOHCs, unless you go FI (turbo).
I had a semi-built h22 before my car was stolen and loved it. With that setup auto-x was out of the question. Now that I'm rebuilding with an emphasis on cost saving purposes I'm sticking to the SOHC (semi-built turbo) and hoping to hit the slopes. So I’m trying to stay cost effective, and maintain the stock geometry and weight ratio for the car.
There are so many cheap DOHC power plants out there such as b18bs, b20s, hell b16s are pretty affordable too. I managed to pick up a k20a3 a couple months back for my 03 coupe for a steal, even though it’s the weakling of the K-series. In all honestly it depends on 3 things. 1) How much you have to spend, 2) What you want out of the car, and 3) what you are using it for. Pick your poison though, because in the end you are the one driving it.
