dont be frustrated with small things like that I drove a DSM around for about 2-3 months, and that was long enough for me, even if it was modded and AWD Turbo! haha. Hondas are usually easy fix

Is it just some guy or is it a shop? Has he done one before? If so, that is a great deal.

Well he worked for a Honda only shop and has done plenty of timing belts ao I think he will do a good job. And I think everything but the actual belt is Honda. He said he has used the belts before and they are oem or are exactly the same I cant remember but he found the kit for me.

Bimmer99- have you used something non oem before? I take it by your response you have and it was not pleasant.

My friend just reminded me I can't turbo without a rebuild on my motor 130k on the engine with no rebuild... seals will probably kick the bucket at the dyno or something

depends. If you read that thing I said a while ago, my dad offered me a IS300 (2003 model probably) if I do good this quarter My friend also reminded me that there's no point in turboing the civic if I'm going to be selling it for the IS300. Since the 1500~ it would cost for rebuild and the kit could be used towards turboing/ paying for the IS300 If I see greddy kit cheap enough (6-700~) I'll pick it up but hold onto it until I get the final decision with my dad. If I fail on grades (god forbid) I'll throw the turbo on with a rebuild If not, sell the kit and make 50-100 on what I payed for it

You should rebuild, that way you can reinforce it at the same time new HG (steel?), arp headstuds, resleeve, new piston rings (VERY important)

I have arp head studs and I plan on doing the head gasket too, never thought of the rings. that would be a good idea huh?

Yeah, my friend said my rings would be the first thing to go at 130k miles. If you go through the FI forum, or any threads you'll see piston rings giving out is a common problem in boosting. Honing your cylinders back to spec is a good idea too I was quoted 6-800 for a standard rebuild of my engine if I took it out and brought it to the shop You can do pretty much everything yourself except resleeving and honing your cylinders. Just takes time. Rehoning is a $40 deal if you bring the bare block

How much boost are you doing? 10lbs or less is okay without a resleeve from what I read. Don't quote me on that If you want to go above, resleeve to be safe

There's another way you can go to be safe boost for up to... 14lbs? Supra TT pistons, b16 rods it's a $700 setup but it's good up to 14lbs without sleeving. Look it up if you want to do something different Yes, supra pistons are 75mm like our D series pistons

as long as it's a gates belt with oe water pump you're set . Gates produces hondas belts. as far as a tensioner i've never seen them fail before been working with hondas/acuras for 7 yrs

that white coupe looks great. i really like the last pic w/ white hood. it looks damn good

all this turbo talk...
i have a brand new oem honda y8 headgasket and intake manifold gasket if anyone needs them. just sold my arp headstuds but still have these left.

also have stock clutch/pressure plate/flywheel with 101k miles, and a set of stock struts and springs with 60k miles. pay for shipping and they're yours.

gabe, sorry if that was uncalled for. i'm getting anxious to clear out the leftover stuff.

turbo-goers...
jtchinoy: do a compression & leak down test, see what shape your motor's in. i daily drove my 100k mile motor at 10lbs of boost for a year without any issues. i say boost it, worry about a rebuild if something breaks

We'll see at the end of this quarter Like I said, no point in boosting if I sell it in 6 months

up to you, I just personally prefer taking more time to put it in once and have it run like a charm than to throw it in, let it work for a few months, then you have to rebuild it anyhow plus trouble shooting.
Not to mention you'd be reinforcing it like I said so you can jump on 10 lbs and beat the hell out of it with no worries

I'd be worried if I threw one on mine and I'd have only 8-9lbs. Whatever the greddy kit can put out on 8-9 lbs
