Default you guys are smart......

...........so i figured i would ask you. i got too much crank case pressure (not even turboed yet!!) and i saw another thread talking about using a catch can to draw out the pressure. now i don't really want to buy a catch can right now, is there another way of doing this? can i unplug my pcv and let it vent in to the atmosphere, then take a hose from my valve cover and connect it to the vacuum line on my intake where the pcv was hooked up? will that work or is there another way? please help, going on a 600 mile trip and dont want to blow my oil gasket all over the highway!!

you dont have to buy a catch can per say...you can make one out of about anything...if your not worried about emmisions...just take the pcv out and bust/drill/whatever the check vavle out of it, then put the fitting back into the black box (or you can buy a brass fitting from lowes)..then run a hose from there to a catch can, then from the valve cover to the catch can..

you can use just about anything, a pop can, beer can, any container..just make sure its sealed at the bottom so it doesnt make a mess.

what signs are you having that make you think you have to much pressure anyway?

ok i am confused i want to pull air out of the crank case not put air in. on a pcv line the intake pulls the gases into the intake to be reburned. if i took that line from the pcv, put it into a catch can then into the valve cover it would be pushing air in or nothing at all. should i hook it from the intake into a catch can then into the valve cover?

If you have blown out 4 oil pann gasket you have a problem somewhere else. Do a compression ckeck. Sound like you may be have some bad rinigs and its (the compression) is blowing past the piston pressurizing the bottoom end.

well i guess you could hook both lines to the intake if you wanted or the valve cover port to the catch can..but with an open system line i discribed you shouldnt have any problems at all..theres prolly something else wrong in the first place

compression is at 160 right on the nuts for all four. i got the head rebuilt alittle while ago and i think the new head and old rings are causing the problem. i would love to take the rings out and replace them but i don't have time because i am leaving for a 600 mile trip so i am looking for a quick fix so if anyone knows PLEASE help me out

do a leakdown, check to see if your oil pan is flat.
