WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
dont listen to that bullshit. shorter gears will always be faster in EVERY situation!!
but look for a d16z6 or d16y8 (metal shift forks) and that will be very good as they are the closest hydro d-series trannys
good luck

With the short gears. 1&2 gears will be nothing but wheel spinning...I know for a fact! ask any boosted DOHC guy with a b16 tranny, gsr,ITR tranny....they all perfer a LS trany since it has long gears.
since you have one too you should know.
The D16Z6 trany is not to short so I'm fine with it for now.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You are wrong. If you are spinning first and second you need better tires, not longer gears.

Go drive a car with a real close gear ratio and lots of power that gets traction like it should. Then come back and tell us we're wrong.
BTW I highly doubt you'd be seeing me in your rear view mirror.

You not only put in your input, you made it out like every B series guy was doing the same thing and that isn't true. There have been a ton of gearing debates and there are reasons why some choose b16, itr, and gsr over LS and vice versa. When you put in your input and you're going to use everyone as a basis for comparision it's best to have something to back that up with. So speak for yourself next time.

I'm not anyone's maid, if you want more then I suggest searching.

I've used alot of different trannies and I can tell you I prefer the shorter gear ratios, no matter the power. Topping out second gear at 70-80mph is pretty lame.
EDIT: it's not just a preference either, the shorter gears are faster and better. I can tell you that going from a Y7 to Y8 tranny can cut about .5-.7 off the 1/4.

I can't believe this guy is giving advise! O_O Bro, seriously just stop...
p.s. I'm using the stock tranny from my 89 CRX si and it's ok i guess.

i believe people are giving their personal inputs based on experience.
if you're done explaining, stop raising your post count.
back on topic:
i have a DX tranny now and i'm trying to find an EX/Si tranny (z6 or y8) for the shorter gearing.

Re: For you Dark Side SOHC turbo Peeps (nerdsports)
I give kisses to long geared trannies and iridium spark plugs
xoxo
Actually to limit wheel spin in first and second gear, rather than using a longer geared tranny I just disconnect one of my fuel injectors. Usually this limits wheelspin enough that I can be in boost longer
If longer gears are better for turbo cars, why don't we launch in 5th? It doesn't top out until ~150 on a GSR... very long gearing should be perfect for boost!
