Default yet another exhaust/cat question

setup: 98 dx coupe, 19t greddy kit with some extras.(bov, intercooler, jk tuned p75 ecu)
since the dx cat sits right under the exhaust manifold usually, that is obviously out of the picture with the new setup. so as of now, my car is cat-less and the exhaust is extremely loud. i really dont want my car this loud. so my question is, will a stock ex cat work and will it restrict much? or should i go with a high flow cat?...my current exhaust is 2.5" from the down pipe back..i have to go into the exhaust shop soon to get the downpipe hooked up to the exhaust, so i need to decide soon if i will be adding a cat.

thanks for the help

hard to go wrong with a high flow cat

Have you ever followed behind a car with no converter? Its annoying as hell.

stock cat will be too much of restriction. best to get high flow carsound cat (the one without heatshields - rattle). if you dont have resonator, a straight through can help very little and not hurt the flow. a lot of sound detoning will have to do with your muffler. if you don[t already, get oval type muffler - i'd still recomend straight through. cat will quiet things down but not a whole lot.

Find a friend who is a competant welder, then bring a 12 pack and the converter over to his house.

have you looked into the electric cut-outs? I agree with the resonator idea allmotorsi04 said.
