Yeah... So I just definatley blew up the z6. ***NOW WITH PICS***
So she was misfiring earlier today... I took a trip home from school yesterday to take the wheels off, put the stockies back for winter and raise it back up. She was misfiring at full boost with open DP (exhaust got ripped off by a speed bump, so I needed to come home and fix that too)...
So I pulled the plugs and gapped them down to .35 -- they were really inconsistently gapped... So that was the cause right there, spark blowing out. Took her on the higway and man with the new gap she was running so strong. I got to the end of the road and whipped a u-turn -- the higway ends there, it's so nice. Pulled on, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th... 120mph and a subtle "BOOF" is the best way I can describe it... and the power just stopped. Downshifted to fourth, entire road behind me is smoked beyond being able to see. She is making a really weird noise, kind of like a motorcycle... and making zero power. I'm at 4500rpms in third now just to keep speed, and boosting 5lbs. Its hurting. Off the higway, thank god i'm close to home, up the hill... 10psi in 2nd gear just to MAKE it up the hill.
Just compression tested her... 0/180/175/180. No milky oil or coolant... just pulled the valve cover... Which makes me wonder -- if it was the HG there should be a mess of oil and coolant... and a blown off radiator hose at least?
I wonder what it is? Guess I'm going to pull the head in the AM... but I've never heard of zero compression before. What do you all think?

I need some advice on pulling the head... Just a basic overview... I've never pulled the head off before. I am figuring I want to put it at TDC, mark the timing belt to the timing gear... I don't know if I have to pull the cams or not... and does the distributor come off with the head?
I just need the basics and a quick overview of things to look out for when doing it and I will go knock it out real quick...
Thanks
Matt

With the SOHC, it's very easy to pull the head as you don't have to take out the cam, etc. Get the valve cover and exhaust manifold off and you're halfway there. There's other stuff you have to take off but I don't remember right now. Bust out a Haynes or Helms or something, but it's easy trust me.

You can line up the cam and crank afterwards don't worry about TDC. Unbolt the intake mani, take of the dizzy and valve cover then the head bolts. Loosen the timing belt tensioner in the timing cover and shimmy it off the cam. Then pull the head off, simple.
