Bearings are specing out ok enough. 3 is a little loose. Will find the thickest bearings ive got for that one. The most I expect is down to 0.0030. whatever lets send it!

Main bearings target 0.0021
1 - green/green=0.0024
2 - green/green=0.0025
3 - green/green=0.0035
4 - green/green=0.0023
5 - green/green=-0.0027

Little cringe but I will most likely run some on honda bearings some on king. No mixing on 1 journal, but ya.

3 you can see the hone touched the sides and not even the top and bottom. Honda did a really crap job machining my motor.

So... main bearing clearances are as good as they are gonna get. I didn't have hardly anything thicker than greens. All the king bearings were somewhat small. However I didn't have honda bearings any thicker than those so 1, 2, 4, and 5 all got king bearings. Basically everything is about 0.0030 with #3 being 0033. Bummer, got some 1000hp clearances here I guess.

Build it too loose, only the HT members will know. Build it too tight, everyone will know. 🙄

Exhaust is done minus turndown and o2 bung

Rods are all about 0.0025. Using all king. Had to sand one bearing down to gain some clearance. No worries.

Idk if you guys remember the bearing thread I made about finding Honda bearings and getting good clearances. Kinda funny this motor making me do a 180 real quick. This will be my first motor with non-honda bearings. But should be fine. Knowing all my other builds the bearings dont even get touch damage gives me confidence big gaps will be fine. I run 50w (vr1), so conjecture can weigh on that as good.

1 rod left, then ring gaps, then assembly.

Ron's over there killin it...

Assembly underway.

No surprise the crank spins easy, no binds, pistons all went in relatively easy this time. Usually I have to fight the piston ring compressor more but only had a ring jump out on me one time on this one. So that was nice. Bottom end is all torqued, head is almost torqued. Ran to pickup the car, ron got it complete!

More updates soon, but for now, pics:

Its soo nice outside I moved everything from the basement.

I just found out about running crazy clearances and then you come in here and go even crazier!

Question. Are you planning on running an intake for the turbo?

Also how high do you plan to rev? Ive seen a few of those ls rockers go flying out of the head at the track

Ha thank you guys! Love the comments!

2 s13s actually. RHD Silvia K, SR20DET and a usdm coupe with RB20DET that I drift on the regular at the track (slidewayz at the zoo, michigan usually). The silvia can be sold for the right price, I don't drive it enough.

I doubt I make power over 7500. Stock B20 cams too. But the best thing is when I get to Connecticut on Thursday I'll get to dyno tune it at the track. You guys will get a dyno sheet by the end of the week!

The junkyard special has seen 8k a few times. But I had the rods line honed and arp rod bolts put in. Otherwise untouched oem block. Some quick insurance.

Running an s4c w/ helical lsd. Oem axels.

lsjoker i use a crank pickup for the crank position. Delacruz kit.

I'm running an old school Victor X (before it was victor x). I hunted HARD to find this LS mani. Its hoooge! But just a skunk 2 alpha tb, 70mm. Pics way above, on the basement table.

VC is drilled and tapped for baffle re install, painted and curing. Using my tshirt flash heater. Will be done quick. Pan has baffles welded in. Eatin dinner. Late. Gonna clean the pan, hit it with paint, tork the head. Maaybe install valvetrain tonight. If I could get it timed and valve lash done that would be crazy but its getting late. Its gonna be a fight to the finish but its getting done.

If anyone can make it to Lime Rock Park this weekend I have 2 spectator tickets to give away!

Havent taken too many pics

Its not black this is drying water off before paint. Guess the color lol...

Drilled and tapped the holes to reinstall the baffle in the valve cover

Yea i forgot you had the delacruz setup

I do want to pull colder air in. I have a driver side headlight intake too. Probably going to flip the headlight situation around, and make an oem style airbox with large filter element that fits over/around the driver engine mount. I would also pull air from beneath the frame rail as the oem ek has a nice hole downward there too.

No time for that yet.

Why no cams? Time & $$$. Been spending a boat load lately. Room for improvement.

Limerock is a short small track, looking at 7lb or so spring and low boost. Good tester

Nine Lives Racing **** is otw and due for delivery tomorrow! Talk about icing on the cake!

I already have a few ideas for that airbox! It's looking good Jon, you're making crazy progress. Also,I remember those JG intake manifolds, I haven't seen one of those in a very long time!

Curious if you have any recommendations on these B20 girdles. I imagine they're all from the same Aliexpress page, ultimately.

So sexy without the distributor.

Mine is an amazon bull boost brand but its identical to carrot top tuning or jack spania. Fits OK. Thats all I can say lol

For $65 might have to just get one from Amazon for the hell of it.

I mean, I really hate giving money to these places that flood the market with blatant knockoffs but it’s like 20%-25% the price of the GE one. As long as it fits right, it’s the same as any other hunk of 6061 in the same shape, right? It’s not a moving part.

Is the GE billet or cast? That’s probably the difference.

OE crank girdles are cast though iirc.

So then it’ll come down to quality of the castings…

The only one I found listed on Amazon says it's 7075 aluminum.

Heres what I ordered
Amazon Amazon

I agree with you guys, if it fits then its probably fine. Atleast amazon return policy is decent.

Motor is in the car! Buttoning up tomorrow.

Gsr windage pickup and pan

Baffle added and pan painted. Yeah I paint the inside. Its the second time doing it, if you prep good and cure good its super durable. I couldn't even scratch it on the oil pickup trying to fit it into place.

PSA I hate cleaning RTV from the entire oil pan surface. Seriously, just use rtv on these 4 places only on the block side. You wouldn't rtv your oil filter, why rtv the whole pan ugh.

PSA dont over tighten your oil pan, this is the best tool for the job. Same goes for your valve cover. /Rants

Proper squish

Glossy

Crank angle sensor cable exit

Junkyard Special out!

My friend givin me a hand, we had the motor out in about 1hr together.

Going in took a couple more hours.

What do I call the new motor? The Amazon Special? Seems like whatever I could next day prime is what this one got. Lol. The only oem honda thing is the head gasket and not much else...

ID'd some problems.

Injector dynamics injectors are way thin. Oem rubber intake mani seals are too big. Need to find a solution. Community input?

Throttle cable bracket holes are about 2mm off on the JG. Will reem out the bracket. Meh.

Didnt consider the gsr oil pan when I did the downpipe. So I anticipate (not verified yet) that I need to cut and lengthen it a tad down. Should be easy.

Ron, gonna have to chop and re beadroll the intake tube where it meets the tb. I didnt consider the JG mani places the tb differently. Its closer to the shock tower. I think we are still within the straight section so it should be OK. Just sucks modifying what was just made.

Other than that still on track, 2 wheels off but still hustlin to the finish! No black flags yet! Lol
