Yard turbo build
Ok so me and a couple buddies got together an idea but have never turbo'd anything. Now the question at hand is we have an ls motor all stock and we would like to just get a stock turbo off of something and install it making a custom manifold and such. what other parts besides the turbo, manifold, piping will we need. we are doing this for fun just for a laugh so what else will we need

haha this is funny!
Pull the whole turbo setup off a eclipse pretty much anyone from ~1990-~1997
the manifold is pretty close to a B and D series. injectors too, and use homedepot PVC for charge pipes lol hahaahahaha

Gives you a good idea
Either go with an internally wastegated turbo and any old manifold, or use a manifold with an external wastegate port and a non-internally wastegated turbo. Pretty straightforward.
And can't be stressed enough, there's a huge difference between boosting 5/6 psi on a tiny *** turbo and 5/6 psi on a huge one. Find a power goal and then people will actually be able to help you with questions like injector size, turbo ect..
FAQ is your best friend, don't be lazy, you can figure it out yourself with ease on HT..
Have fun.

I think it's safe to say find new friends haha.
No way in hell should you let them use your car, no intentions of tune and only on for 2 days?
I don't really see the point at all. Unless you're all just looking for something to frig around with and this car is totally expendable.. If this car means ANYTHING to you, and you don't plan on tuning it then definitily do NOT do this.

DO IT and post some carnage pics, then all of us can get some amusement too
if your friends think this is such a good idea then let them do it to their cars
I promise you,
halfass turbo kit
+ no tune

= disaster

Re: Yard turbo build (one-cam)
Most Honda motors I've known that were stock ecu + "just" 5-6 psi blew up in a day or two. A kid I knew actually blew up a B18B1 WITH the intercooler, doing just 7psi w/injectors AND a basemap (aka ebay chip).
Hondas are unlike other cars that meter overall air entering the motor - w/o tuning any boost will basicly not be accounted for, no extra fuel added, and no timing pulled.
FYI turbocharging a car is just as simple as that FAQ - its NOT simple. Its not like just bolting on an intake/header/exhaust and upping the FPR until it feels good. Have fun cracking your pistons in the first hour. IIRC a week or two ago some n00b blew his untuned wreck on the 2nd pull.
