your going to have to live with it, its a 6 puck disk lol not an exedy organic stock replacement. A non-resurfaced flyhweel will just cause the clutch to wear slightly faster at the beginning but afterwards its fine from what i have heard.

ok.sounds good. but do i need to get a break in again? i dont seemed to feel the grip or bite.could it be due to the factthat i have a non resurfaced flywheel or have not finished break inperiod? im gonna get the xtd flywheel again. and refix the clutch in. that will solve the problem right?

yea that should make it grab much better and yea you need to go through break-in again. Make sure you dont get any oil on the flywheel that might cause it to not grip/bite very well.

I just got the stage 3 kit too and I'm gonna be putting it on soon. About how long will the replacement take? Like a whole day or two? Also, around how much would the flywheel resurfacing and alignment cost?

should take you all of 5 hours max, you can swap an engine in that time, rusurfacing should cost around 40 bucks and the alignment tool isnt really needed but it can make things a little easier.

How exactly would you plan to install the clutch without the use of the pilot tool?

have you installed a clutch before? You could use a damn stick as an alignment tool.

I'm a professional mechanic with over 8 years of experience working on Honda/Acura mainly and just about everything else in between. You could say I have done a clutch or two in my time. I still don't see how a stick is going to properly alling the disc so the teeth and the pilot bearing all line up CORRECTLY. Keep in mind, I'm not the type who likes to sit there and fight a tranny into place. My back doesn't allow for that much anymore.

Oops! Sorry, I meant resurfacing and BALANCING of the flywheel. BTW, I got the clutch kit so I have the alignment tool and everything. Oh and thanks for the response.

Hey I just thought I would come and update that I bought the XTD Stage III and its absolutely great value for the price. The pedal feels almost stock with the 6 puck and it grabs like crazy. Only thing I did notice is that the release point is kinda very narrow on it and takes some gettin used to but otherwise its a great clutch. I am still breaking it in - about 400 miles to go!

After upping to 15 ps1 300 WHP 305 TQ on slicks at the track my stage 3 XTD let go (SLIPS IN EVERY GEAR ON SLICKS).... lasted 9 months 8 months at 10 psi (255WHP), and 1 at 15 psi... Oh well Exedy TWin herew i come</TD></TR></TABLE>

good choice on the exedy twin. xtd's are ok for the price, here is my whole story on them. customer did a swap, didnt finish it, brought to me to finish. i did. had a 3 puck and a lightened moly flywheel, the clutch that came in the swap lasted a month, kid got an xtd off of ebay. came in wrong. glad i tried it on the splines first. again was bought through a dealer on ebay. i called xtd myself, being a 4th party, (company, seller, customer, me) and they overnighted a new disc to me no questions asked, because it was packaged incorrectly.

fast forward 4 months. clutch failed. friction material separated from the disc. again, another disc no questions.

so these are either really really cheap, or this dude actually gives a crap.

my stage 3 6 puck died shortly after i up'ed the boost to 15psi, at that point once i hit full boost it would grab then slip then grab then slip really fast and pretty violently, but then again i am pretty sure i was pushing it past its torque rating (275 ft/lbs i believe)

I picked one up and its in the mail. Im in the proces of taking the tranny out with no air tools and hubnuts SUCK *** lol.

with a 4ft braker bar I lifted the car of the stand a little and it didnt budge. I used the crowbar through the studs and lean on a jackstand drick to stop the hub from spining lol.

Yeah I have the xtd stage 3 w/ 8lb flywheel and I like it! The drivablity is good and it seems to hold good. With my built motor and boost turned up I will be upgrading but not bad for the price! I have made it slip on hard shifts and I am only around 250- 260hp!

i have the stage 3 one and it holds great. did a 13.3@102 single cam launching on 20" slicks at the limiter and it did not slip once. i have no complaints about it what so ever. i would suggest resurfanceing the flywheel at least or buying a new one. autoxzone sells brand new flywheels for 51.99 no core charge for D series and 59.99 no core charge for B series. i have a new autozone flywheel on both my D16Z6 and my B18C

those clutches arent worth buying, i would never cheap out on major mechanical parts becuae o f ''funding reasoning''

and that is the only reason you would ever cheap out on a clutch setup

my stage 3 6 puck finally gave out on me. these clutches are so shitty i swear. the chattering is bad too. its so annoying. i've barely had this clutch on for 1k miles and it all of a sudden started to ride choppy and boggy now. i have it on a LS tranny with an act flywheel....waste of my money and time installing it.
