x-post Newbe has a question
I am trying to buy an import and I found a car that I really like but it is a N/A motor with 12.5 :1 pistons. I have been told that I can not run pump gas that I must run race fuel for this motor. I was wondering if this would be a possible soultion to my problem.
Here are the specs on the motor.
It is an LS block
It has a Haltech E6k
JDM B16A Head Polished By Jun
Type R valves
JUN stage 3 cams
JUN Titanium Retainers
JUN high rev package springs 9.5k
68 MM holley throttle body
Skunk 2 intake manifold
RC 305 Injectors
AEM fuel rail, regulator, cam gears
JE 12.5:1 pistons
Crower Rods
Block blueprinted and balanced.
That is what is bascially in the motor. Now my question is could I purchase this car and put low compression pistons in it and then throw a turbo kit on it. Or becuase it has the B16 head would that not be good. Like I said I am new to imports grew up working on german and amercian cars. So I am not sure if this would work. Any help would be great.
TIA

You can put lower compression pistons in the c (Dont go lower then 9.5:1) . You should remove some other items too. The stage3 cams are for Naturally Aspirated only. I wouldn't try to use it on a Force induction.
Other then those 2 items, you should be okay.

i woul think that if you lowered the compression and got new cams(i think the stage 3 cams are a little to agressive) you would be fine. you could sell the cams, then buy some stock gsr cams and use the left over money to buy pistons. Also, while the motor is torn down, you might want to get some sleeves if you plan on serious power.
Yeah I was definitely going to sleeve it. How much do you think all of this would cost for the pistons, cams, and sleeves? I am not trying to drag race it, but I am definitely trying to make the motor dependable as can be, since I will be driving the car about 200 miles a day.
you can get the gsr cams and new pistons after you sell the stage 3 cams. i think it cost about 7-8 hundred to sleeve the block. then you have to add in new gaskets, bearings, machine work, exc. Expect to spend about 1500 dollers at least to be on the safe side. you might even consider building a different block for the turbo, then selling the high compression motor. less downtime this way if you have the money up front.
