Default wtf is the difference between open deck and closed deck

i am having y motor rebuilt and dont know whitch of these options is better....whats the difference and what is better for boosted applications??? (15 psi)

Depends on who is doing your sleeving. There are primarly two design on the market.

Open deck and closed deck

here is example of closed deck

and then you can look at benson or GE for the open deck designs

Open Deck



Closed Deck

The little ears you see on the side of viren's sleeves are flanged sleeves from what I see.

Closed Deck's are the best way to go since under high loads the cylinders will start to 'move.' Having a closed deck will eliminate the movement of the cylinders from side to side. A few companies have closed-deck conversion sleeve kits out now. Or you can run the flanged sleeves which are also very nice.
