Which would you choose?
I sold my JRSC ITR & am missing a performance car in a big way. My next car is narrowed down to two candidates: BMW M3 2001 or newer, Corvette Z06, 2002 or newer.
Which car would you buy?
BTW, I've been watching used prices for quite a while, and used Z06's are a bargain.

the 2002 vette. sure its $50k or so and the bmw is around $27k, but it's just money right?
it also depends on your age. are you over 50? if yes, then definately the vette. if under 50, go bmw
my .02

I would go for the z06 hands down...unless you really need the 2 extra seats. Edit: What kind of 01+ m3 you gonna get for 27k?

no brainer. Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06. its everything a type R is but on a whole new level, like 3 times above it. the M3 is just a nice luxury car w/ some hp to boot. but i wouldnt even compare to a performer like a Z06.
actually i think im just a lil harsh on the M3 cause ive beaten all 3 of em that ive raced. and well the Z06, that car i might as well not even line up with cause im not even in a league close to it. but the M3 is a very good performer, its just the Z06 is much better.

I guess you've never seen the engineering in the z06. Who else has 400hp 400lbs of torque and a car that weighs 3000lbs for $50? Best bang for the buck.
The only thing the bmw has over the z06 is the interior.

Wow, I thought the votes would be closer and didn't think the Z06 would be favored so strongly. I've seen used Z06's in the mid-40's lately. The new generation M3's are holding their price strong. Michigan winters not a problem since this will be my pleasure vehicle only. I do miss my ITR; it surprised many a C5 owner in Detroit.
Thanks for the replies.

Z06 definately, if I had money like that I would buy one. It's nice spanking them in a Civic Si though. :D But when they put some mods on theres just bolt ons they catch up or surpass and put that beast of a turbo from above and OMG fast. Lingenfelter Vette C5 went 9.20s and it looked pretty much stock with some rims. 427cid I think though. Z06 nice car!

Re: Which would you choose?
If you were to choose one for performance, the Z06 wins definitely!
I've ridden in both at an autocross (could be considered a very good performance testing area), and the Z06 wins hands down. It was so amazing, so complete, all encompassing performance in every way. The braking was amazing, the acceleration was even more amazing, it handled like no other, stayed flat in the corners, it was so nimble yet so mean.
If you can afford it, go for it. I'm jealous.

If it was between the M5 and Z06 i might say go M5, but the new M3's are like the old ones as far as power, go Z06 if your looking for pure power. If your looking for a more practical, luxury, but kinda sporty car the M3.

umm how bout a supra with single turbo conversion....you would smoke a z06! I could think of alot of cars I would buy before a chevy, though I give props to their power, their engineering and interior styling are lacking in my book. **** import an r32 or even r33 for a little more money..
