Default Would this exhaust setup work...

Okay, im having a 3" exhaust custom fabed, but i dont want to have a 3" muffler sticking out the end (too make cali cops waiting to pull me over) So i was thinking of having a Y welded on before the muffler, and have it go from 3" to two 2" pipes with two mufflers, or two 1.5" pipes with two mufflers. Kinda like how the v6 accords look, would this work?

Its going on a 6th gen accord. But thats the thing, it wouldnt be downgraded or smaller at the end. If i have a Y splitter, that goes from 3" to two 2" the end would be a 4" and the single pipe would have 3". See what im getting at here? It would serve as more of a cosmetic, and sound reducer buy having two silencers at the end of 2 2" pipes, then no silencer at the end of one big 3".

wouldnt that be like a reducer or a choker in your exhuast? dont see why it wouldnt work, i just always liked single one size straight threw since you going 3inch must mean you have some power or plan on doing something big than stock otherwise just overkill maybe someone else could add something in here

e cutout? I dont think so, it would do two things in not trying to achieve here. One, would be extremely loud and the other, get the attention of cops if i drove around with it open. I am trying to have a stock looking and sounding vehicle. I talked to my builder and he told me i have two options. One is do what ive discussed already (have a Y splitter and go from one 3" pipe to two 2" pipes/mufflers with a silencer) or go with a full 3" all the way back with a silencer at the end. Im not sure which would be quieter, im guessing the one 3" with a silencer, but we'll have to wait and see. Thanks for all the comments tho, appreciate the help!

What car is this going on? I was in the same situation on my CRX but I decided to go with a Megan turbo muffler instead What I was going to do was do a full 3" to an OEM DA axleback to keep OEM appearance, they are fairly nice looking a cheap OEM muffler with a quiet sound.

Why dont you just run something like a Vibrant flat black 3" muffler. I think the cops are going to be more drawn to the noise than the muffler.

So dual exhaust on a car with a stock single exhaust is not going to be as noticable as a large muffler?

Run a nice muffler with a few resonators, the sound will be attracting more attention than the muffler itself.

get a quiet muffler not a racing muffler or one those cherry bombs, if ur worried about looks so cops cant see it just paint the muffler black the sound is what will get you noticed
