would detonation cause hesitation??
just kinda curious on this, my car makes a weird noise in the higher rpm range under boost. its not a loud marble in a can sound tho. the best i can describe it right now is as a slightly higher pitch rumble (higher than the regular engine noise). whenever i hear this, the motor also seems to hesitate a little. i used the wideband, and im running 11.3 a/f ratio, so its not lean. would this be detonation, or maybe just my wastegate. im still a noob when it comes to driving a turbo car.

ok- the previous post was me at my friends house. on the way home from his house i boosted and listened. it almost sounds like regular motor noise, it just gets a little bit louder out of nowhere at like 6000 rpms at the same time the car hesitates....
What are you plugs gapped at? You might be blowing out the spark on the plugs before it can ignite the fuel.. Gap them down to .32 and see how that works out..
And yes detonation would cause hesitation if it were bad enough.. Remember with detonation your igniting the fuel too early while the piston is still trying to compress it..

the plugs are gapped to .30. wouldnt detonation that was bad enough to cause hesitation be audible without having to listen for it??

Good point.. 11.3 is really rich.. Try to tune it to 12:1-12.5:1..

i pulled the plugs a few days ago- they are slightly tanish white on the ends, but nothing too crazy. i know for a fact that im running about 1 a/f point lean in vacuum, which is probably whats causing the lighter color plugs. i cant really tune right now cause i cant get my burner to burn chips, so im kinda in limbo till i can fix that. sunday is my next day off, so hopefully ill get to it then...
