which would be better for street racing light to light?................drag or greddy
for a 98 civic ex........drag turbo kit or a greddy turbo w/ intercooler.
greddy sounds good cuz its less time for spooling, but drag produces more hp.
i want my sohc to get around 200hp street racing......which kit is more beneficial?

The Drag Gen 3 will MAYBE start behind, if the Greddy turbo driver launches good, BUT the Drag Gen 3 car will catch and pass because it has much more top end HP.

Some D16 Greddy cars run low 14's/high 13's but they are rare. They of course also have more mods and run more than 5.5Psi.

dude if you're just racing light to light you can't really take full advantage of the turbo. get a direct port nos system. its cheaper. throw a 80 shot on and surprise people

A b20vtec swap would rape an EX with any basic turbo kit.. **** so would a simple GSR swap probably, especially 1/8 mile..

I dont know about a Drag 3 ex but my friend raced a non intercooled, 5-6psi greddy EX in his high 15sec LS and barely got pulled on the highway!
Id still reccomend a motor swap before you think about turbo..

14.28 @ 100.2mph spinning first @10psi (easy 13's if I could hook up )
Beaten a smorgasboard of hybrids including a 6G B18C1 HB w/ bolt-ons among others..
And all this on a gay Greddy turbo

go with the smaller turbo for SOHC VTEC ... unless you have a reground cam with less overlap then go with DRAG. You can also go with DRAG and thinner headgasket with copper spray... that kik butt all day long. The trick is to use a really good fuzzy logic boost controller which keeps w/g shut til very last minute.

In my opinion, I would have to say go with the GReddy. If you are looking for 200hp, then you can easily get that from either kit. Now which one do you want, the one that is fully spooled at 2000rpm and makes power to redline, or the one who only starts to boost around 3800rpm or so? Stoplight to stoplight, a 200hp GReddy powered EX will beat a 200hp DRAG powered EX, because the GReddy EX will make the power faster, and jump ahead. Go with the GReddy kit.

I murdered many Saleen's with a GReddy powered D16Z6. Ran 13.3 on it.

hmmm. i'd say drag. i know of a h/b civic with greddy 16g kit that ran 15.9 best. this was consitant and that was like 7 pounds. i ran 14.4 on 6 pounds with stock exhaust. so you tell me. DRAG 3 GReddy

I know the Greddy can be fast, but KIT FOR KIT, DRAG is faster. With Add ons, sure the Greddy can be as fast or faster.

Re: which would be better for street racing light to light?................drag or greddy (dlplayboy
the ONLY WAY anyone is going to get a TRUE ANSWER to this endless argument is to take TWO identical cars at identical boost OR horsepower, (depending on which variable you would like to be the constant) and have the same driver run them a bunch of times in identical conditions. average the times up, and VOILA, your answer! the rest of this crap is just hearsay and speculation. so, if you REALLY want an accurate answer that badly, GO FOR IT.

It won't be me doing it, I am going with a total custom setup with a beauuutiful Hondata Stage 2B.
