Default is it worth fixing? crack in mani!!!!!!!

i heard a crazy noise like something had been leaking and after about 20 min we found where it was. it was really small the first day but 2 days later its completly disconected and held up by wire tied around it so i didnt lose it.
What kind of weld should i use to fix it? Is it worth it?

The pictures aren't to clear but if im looking at it right, it looks to have cracked right over the weld. Just get that section rewelded, wouldn't coast much at all to fix.

Although we all know the manifolds suck and crack. They do stand behind their product and will replace it under warrenty.

Is it worth the hassle of it possibly happening again? Have em replace it, sell the new one, and get somethin better

From what I hear the reason it cracks in the first place is due to the thin walls adn the weight of the turbo stressing the walls and welds. However, there is a guy on this board who built a brace for the turbo and welded it to the block. This meant the brace supported the turbo not the manifold. He has had no problems with his SS one cracking at all.

well i am going to buy a new mani. the problem is where you would brace to hold for the turbo is not where it broke that is the weld that goes off to the wastegate.

Weird, all you **** faces stop capping on others manifold. Just because one cracks, doesnt mean its all complete ****..

Its from Spark Racing. Looks like it..

Not all manifold produce and made are 100% top notch.. Thats why, always take precautions, bracing things like this up. - GoodLuck dude..

Umm, as the topic states, the poster was wondering if it was worth repairing, so all negative comments about the Spark manifold are quite valid in the context of this thread. Hassle, repair cost, bracing cost, downtime, etc.. often make the Spark manifold cost just as much as a decent manifold when considering costs that aren't necessarily only monetary.

why would you go and brace things up and go through all that hassle after you just spent 300+ on a manifold. It should hold up no problem. InlinePro, RevHard, and even Drag and Greddy don't have these problems. this thing should hold up. this is the 100000000000X we've seen this with this type of mani. i'm sure spark racing has great customer service and stands behind their product, but that manifold is the weak point.

yep thats not surprising at all no matter what brand . if its stainless steel it will crack in time . stainless steel expands and contract heaps when it gets hot and thats alot of heat in there . thats why i cant understand why they make them outta stainless steel . i made mine ouuta steam pipe bends which are made for extreme heat and dont crack .

beacause they are like 3mm thick wall . you cant use a stainless steel manifold beacause it needs to support the weight of the turbo and waste gate etc... and the wall thickness is only 1.6mm not suitedble at all really but yeah i wouldnt buy a stainless steel manifold you can ask any engineering stainless steel fabricator and they will recommend not to use stainless steel for that reason that it will crack much easier than mild steel black wall steam pipe bends.
