The worst project delay ever... a house fire
So yesterday around 6:30 a wire in an outer wall decided it was time to quit, luckily we were both home and caught it as it started, took 5 minutes to climb 30 feet in 2-3 minutes. Fire department showed up stupid fast, 5 pump trucks, a ladder truck, two battalion chiefs and ambulance and two cops.
Luckily they got the fire out be not before cutting holes through the sub flooring n the 2nd story, big enough that I can get to the first floor that way... as well as basically punching holes everywhere to check for smoke/flame travel and removing most of the siding
Luckily the house is still standing (and my civic and Porsche were outside) but the house isn't live able, 1st floor is a swimming pool, plus we can't run water or gas or power until repairs start... and they are packing up the entire house for smoke remediation. Which means the civic goes back in storage so no work time on it.
They said it will take 3-4 weeks just to figure the total structural damage to the house and whats needed to do it.... and get approval. Plus we are looking at 1-3 months after approval to get the work done,
The basically have to replace everything in the house, flooring, sheetrock, paint, framing repair, textiles, outside siding, the porch has to be torn down and rebuilt, and the whole back half of the house and attic
Have to be taken back down to framing...
Weird part is it was a 12v security sensor line that cause all of it.
Now taking donations to complete project civic lol
Oh I'll have pics of the carnage later today

Sorry to hear man, at least everyone is safe, your cars included. Hopefully you find a decent place to live until everything is fixed.

Wow man, that's a huge bummer! But you and yours are safe and that's the most important thing. Good luck with the rebuild.

Sorry for your loss, when I was a kid are house chought on fire for a little, but insurance totaled it out because there was too much damage to frame. It's a shitty deal to go threw for sure.

Sorry to hear about this.
Glad you and anyone you were with were not harmed. As it could have been much worse if you were asleep.
Hopefully you can get everything sorted out as quickly as possible and get back to normal life.

who installed the security wiring that caused this? when I put in a system Im designing it myself, and everything carrying power is getting fused, a lot of systems carry current in the walls with no fuses. It's no different in a short then an unfused wire in your car

Yea its pretty shitty, between smoke damage and fire, not to mention the added damage from the fire department, its bad. Water everywhere and the whole interior of the house has to be demolished due to smoke.
Hell all of my carbon fiber parts and my braided lines smell like smoke
