Default working out CR

hi,
ive recently acquired this block, the owner didnt know the CR of the pistons so im wondering if there is a way i can work it out, they are JE's

Why is the deck filled on opposite sides around each bore?

its a common method of installing aftermarket sleeves here in the UK

Looks to be a welded-in block guard.

Well I can tell that much, I just figured there was a better way to weld the blockguard than filling that whole area with weld and them decking the block


OP: if you google "honda displacement calculator", you will find what you need. You will have to know what kind of head you will be using, rod length and crank type, how much your head/deck has been milled, the dome displacement/height of the pistons etc to get an accurate CR number

^ yese i agree its not the tidiest job and i think i will have it down to a machine shop to "trim" the weld down.

I would like to know the CR of the pistons in there, the guy didnt who i bought it off didnt know so is there any way of working out what CR the pistons are, i presume they are 9.0:1 or therabouts.

9-1 or or 8-8-1 either or lower compression..

agreed, wild guess is below 9.0, thats a decent size dish...

They look like a standard dished piston, but if that's a B16 block the compression will be in the low 8's

thats exactly what i was basing it off... either way nobody here can argue, were all just guessing...
