Why no ignition??
Hooked up MSD to a brand new Distributor King Dizzy. Cruised all night and no problems. Went to leave from somewhere and jumped on it. Then all of a sudden the engine shut off. I tried to start it and it just cranks and cranks. I got it to my house, and totally eliminated the MSD. Still no spark. Took out the brain to my comustar alarm just to make sure that wasnt playing games with it. Still no spark. The distributor is brand spankin new and the car has been running fine with it for a couple weeks. Now all of a sudden its not getting spark. All the fuses look good. The fuel pump is engaging, so its not the main relay. The firing order is correct. I checked the voltage to the black/yellow wire (tach signal) and it was reading 12.XXvolts. I'm confused as hell. What do u guys think?
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
I checked the black/yellow tach signal going into the dizzy. It is getting 12v. So if the dizzy is getting 12v and its not producing any spark, it must be something internal of the dizzy? So just send it back? what do u guys think? MSD can really blow distributors?? How does that happen?
FIXED!! Turns out it was the ICM. The dizzy is brand new and only about 3weeks old. The MSD HVC coil must have been to much for the dizzy. It must have blown it. Luckily i had another one laying around. Guess i'll try sending it back.
