Default Re: Who are you? Please join. (dvp95)

im a senior engineering student who just finished a lab at 2:30 am and actually i gotta get up in a few hours to really finish it.

when i was 17 i started getting into hondas with an old prelude (90 si). i met some guys who were going 11s at the time (arvin, ed, chris, ralphy etc) and they were the east coast pioneers of the sport. I wanted nothing more but to make fast hondas my life. The prelude quickly went out and i bought myself a turbo and a b18b, but couldnt afford a car for a little while. The first time i drove my 1994 civic dx, it had the b18b1 in it in the spring of 1998.

i went to college in philly, hated it, dropped out, tried getting ASE certified. I hated that even more, went back to college. Ive been at ASU since

i started z10 with my old boss to fill a void in the marketplace only to get screwed over by him. I tried my hand out at maxrev made a lot of changes over there and things didnt work out there either, so now most of you know me with full-race

for everyone who has known me since the beginning this isnt news, but to everyone else this is my life story for the past 5 years. I turned 22 yesterday, so I can honestly say that making hondas go really really fast is my life. Ive made some great friends along the way and met some amazing people. From the HP list to the early days of Hybrid to #CRX, i think many of us have been with it from the beginning, its pretty neat to look back and remember how clear tail lights were the hot stuff, and people said it was impossible to put a gsr engine in a civic, and crx's were stuck being single cams Oh hasport used to be in a mobile home too

edit: heres my car

i made the manifold, intercooler, flanges, piping, everything. I tuned the car myself. I built the motor myself and Ive done everything myself. I taught myself everything i know by reading every book i could find, driven by a huge desire to go really fast, even though i was never really able to afford it.

here i am. Since ppl are flossin their girls, this is the only pic i could find where im with girls. this is how i usually dress

PS why is this in fi ?? lol i would never have responded in any other forum...

I'm Tom. I like boost and I'm a senior economics student at Rutgers University.

Anyway, I used to snoop around the boards when things were h-a.rely.net. Then things split and I continued to snoop around here, gathering as much info as I could so that I could safely boost my integra.

Found out all the info that I needed, and during the x-mas of '01 I bought in on Ben@importparts's incredible drag3 group buy. But my stupid *** bought in on a credit card.

The following november, after having met many cool people (intercooler is a great conversation piece), and after having put ~35k on the car in those 9 months, I had to sell the kit. I had debt racked up to the ceiling, and selling the kit, and making my car more reliable seemed as if it were the only way out.

Well, since then I've crawled out of debt, swapped a 98 b18c1 in place of the 95b1 that I blew up and have been planning on my new set-up ever since.

Fun fact: I drove my ls-turbo 1,015 miles one-way, non-stop w/ periodic boosting last september, averaging 37mpg and outrunning an itr w/ a 50 shot. This past september I did the drive again, but w/ my gsr engine, and only averaged 28mpg.

This is who I drove all those miles for.

And who I'm going to pick up at the airport in 45 min. Yup, I'm late.

Tom

My name is Rustin. I'm a senior engineering student at UMR. I'm currently interning for an automotive R&D company as a design engineer. I get to work on neato stuff like the C6 vette and the 2003+ viper.

I've been into Hondas since I was 16. My first Honda was an '87 Prelude, automatic carbed motor. It didn't take me long to realize it had little potential. I bought a late model Prelude when I graduated from high school. Eventually turboed it, and sold it.

Now I am building a 10 second hatchback. (who isn't? )

My mugshot is below. No I'm not in the military. The pic was taken out way out west on one of my dad's crazy hunting/shooting expeditions.

Freakin crazy Jersey girls....

Hmm.. let see..
On Sept 19 1978 my mother Donna gave birth to a baby boy. I came out purple and not breathing. The doctors spanked my *** and I coughed out a plug and started breathing... then it all began....
I got my first car, a 1988 Escort EXP (bad-***).. had it for a little while and threw it away..

I bought my first Honda (88crx DX) and started modding. I added an exhaust, intake, springs and thought I was the stuff driving the hell out of a DX. I picked up a copy of Stupid Street and I wanted to get in on the new thing.. I got the HOnda bug and that freakin curse still follows me today
I have been in the race crowd since 96 and haven’t looked back.
I go to school part time going for my IST degree and work as a DSL Super for Sprint Telecom making sure things are running properly. I am currently trying to put together my first REAL car with a composition of parts that are currently working the best. I have been working on and off on my project (93 si hatch.. yea yea its a pig) for about 3 years and have finally become financially secure enough to afford some hard parts and live at the same time. I have a good group of friends. We have hung out for years now and every one of us talks **** to the other about racing and who will actually be the fastest (naturally I will). When we finish up we are looking to try to dominate the "streetable" class (may be next year? who knows). Look for a low 10 sec street car next year.

What else..? oh yea.. My other passion besides racing is astronomy and snow boarding. I really enjoy chillin somewhere with a few buddies, or my gf and looking up at the night sky with my Mead telescope and really trying to fathom the whole picture...cool stuff (ya ya Im a nerd). Riding is definately an out for me as is racing.. but its fun to grab a 30 pack and 4 or 5 of your best buds bury the bea at the top of the park or set and land some sick chit like butta..
I dont have a pic of me handy but I am about 6'3 200lbs, dark hair, green eyes.
I have a beautiful GF (Cia) that really helps me keep my head up when I get down.. she is very supportive of my racing and supports everything that I want to do. She like racing so much that now she wants a Supra! (I guess its a catchy disease this racing thing). My whole family is very supportive of racing and they come out to almost every race.
I cant think of much more and if this post was hard to follow sorry I just woke up lol..
Thats Dub in a nut-shell.

my name is Sam Johnston, i'm 19, i live near Asheville NC, i graduated high school in 2001, i go to school in the morning for machining classes, and at night for auto classes (that class is bullshit, i know more than the freakin teacher). during the day i work at my dad's hardware/feed & seed/farm supply store. after classes at night i work on cars. not making any money at it yet, but hope to be soon. i drive a 97 Prelude, that i am currently in the process of a major turbo buildup, and hop eto soon have back on the road. i also have a 95 Integra, LS/VTEC, that is soon to be a strictly competition car. right now i only auto-x, but i hope to start road racing in ECHC maybe next year. i LOVE going to shows and checking out what everyone else has, mostly i like to compare it to my car (hehehe). i have a GF that is currently enrolled in college in Winstom-Salem NC, she is looking at buying a Prelude too, excpet she wants a 4th gen.

Oh what the hell... I'm Damien, 25 (soon to be 26), a Scorpio, black hair, brown eyes, I like all types of music and, and, and, blah, blah, blah. At present I'm an Air Balancing Tech contracted to the NIH and work in mostly animal laboratories. I've been doing this for about four years now. Prior to this I was a auto mechanic for a small private shop (still have my ASE certs though). Sorry, no pics of myself, but all you HT hotties are lucky as I'm currently without gf My present cars consist of my daily beater 88 CRX DX formerly of boosted status, now being returned to n/a for reliability reasons. Also, my daily dragger 92 Civic CX which is being built for heavy doses of positive pressure. That all for now...

Hi... I'm Me... who are YOU?

My name is Marc. I'm 19yrs old, I attend Florida International University, in Miami, Flur-ah-duh. I've been into cars since I was 14 but really only caught onto performance since I was 16. I've had my car for 2 years now. It was given to me by my parents as a graduation present/convenience since I was going out of town for college. Did the usual intake, exhaust, car's lowered on stock w/ riceboy special coilovers and koni yellows. I've been thru nitrous (zex 55 shot... blah) for a couple months last year. Now I'm working on my custom turbo setup which started as a homemadeturbo project and has now turning into something a lil like a drag kit. should be putting it on soon. umm... pics:

This is me.....

I am Damon, 23 and Live in Little Rock, AR. Novel of my life follows......

Education: Attended University of Arkansas for 3.5 years, 92 hours complete, 3.25 GPA. Dropped out as a Junior- Quit because I got burned out on non-cirriculum classes, and having my heart broken as well at the time . Do I think I will go back. Somedays I think about it. I dunno. I though today about trying to finish up online.

Work Experience: I have always done managment jobs. I was the supervisor for the intramural sports dept at U of A. When I quit school I moved home and became a Property Manger and also did independent web design on the side, then went on to manage a Chiropractic Clinc (in between jobs and not alot to choose from in this state). From there I started managing a Skateboard shop and doing a lil bit of screen printing. I also started my own local message board and online import store to spark the scene in my area. BOY DID IT EVER!! Because of the support and interest they are building a NHRA sanctioned NHRA 1/4 mile track here next year. I was also offered the oppritunity to begin my dream occupation: I am now the Director of Operations for a 5,000 sq ft Performance Shop in Central Little Rock.

Automobile Background: I was a spoiled kid growing up, not going to deny it or hide it. I had many cars but since I never really had my own money couldnt really mod them cause my parents though that wasnt a good idea. So instead of modding a car when I got bored with it I got another. When I was 20 years old I made the decision to cut myself off. I would like to emphasize this was my decison not my parents. I went from getting everything paid for to my parents not paying for anything overnight. I gave back my vehicle they bought and saved up some money and bought Rubin's Orange Turbo Integra in VA beach. The car had 12.6 time slips and a $10,600 price tag. I figured it would give me a good start to learn and build from

After having the car for 4 months it started having quite a bit of blow by. I had Don Polk (the guy I eventually opened the shop with) and I had scarring on the Cylinder walls. Decided to rebuild it and do it all out. Planned on making 400-450 whp. No cost was spared and I lost my car for 10 months. Debt increased and time to work on the car really decreased because of opening the shop. We didnt have any time to work on my car and I never wanted to put my car in front of the customer's cars. Being that this was my only car I had no transporation. I did however get to drive Don's 1996 Porsche 911 around for about a month which I couldnt complain about. A few things during that 10 months led up to me never finishing my Integra and selling everything. 1. I was tired of waiting and wanted to drive MY car again. 2. I thought about value. I had a $5K car that I had $15 in. How was I ever going to sell it and make any money back? 3. I drove a goddamn exotic for too long and was spoiled by the looks and attention it got . 4. I was going broke real quick.
I parted everything out and sold the shell. Walked away with about $17K which I am happy with. I am not going to purchase a 91-92 NSX in the next 2 weeks. I chose the NSX because I am familiar with Honda, I love the exclusivity of it, Its the most reliable exotic on the market probably, and last have you fawking seen one lately? LOL Damn that is one sexy *** car!!
Over my car journey I have learned so much and met so many great people. At this point I cant tell you which I enjoy more. The friends I have gained or the knowledge! But to be quite honest I think its the friends and the majority of them are from this forum or from my distributors.

Relationship Background:
-2 year relationship 95-97 HEART BROKEN
-2 year relationship 97-99 HEART BROKEN
-2 year relationship and engaged 99-01 HEART BROKEN
Currenty single and going to stay that way for a long long long long time!!!!!
However if you know of any cute single girls. Feel free to show them the above pic of myself!

Aspiratons: I really want to be in California or Texas in the next two years. I am so limited in this state and really want to get out. I have great friends in both locations and really look foward to getting an oppritunity to move to either place and start over. Wish me luck!

Here are some pics of the shop:

allright, I guess I'll step in...

my name is Stan, although is not my real name, but all my friends has always called me stan and a few other names, but let's not get to that...

I am 25 yrs old, been in hondas since I was 18 with my first honda, 93 Civix DX 4 door...slapped Iceman CAI, Pacesetter exhaust and strut bar, I thought I was fast then...then I hydrolocked it...so I got an EX motor, dropped it in along with 75 shot NOS, blew it, then I dropped a GS-R motor in it...then turbo it with ghetto *** home made turbo ( this is before Drag came out with a kit, or any kit for that matter), then it got stolen.,..broke my heart, bought a 240SX, until I fell in love with an ITR...but due to unavailability and long delay, I purchased a 98 GS-R back in May 4, 2000 as own B-day present....went thru the stages of JRSC, then all motor dreams, until the boost inside me came out again, bought one of Ben's Drag kit group buy...

not too long afterwards, I blew the motor, cracked the ringland in 8 spots at the same time was having a few personals problem as well, so I went back home to my family in Los Angeles...where I was on a mission to build up a monster turbo Integra....while doing a few external mods on my own as well...

update: JDM ITR front lip, IC and Gunmetal slips

so far I have a built motor, a killer suspension setup, and pieced out another turbo kit for it with a full standalone and yaddi yadda yadda yadda....

personal background, born in indonesia, indonesian born chinese..bachelor of Science in Computer Science from UT Arlington, but currently out of IT fields....instead opted for automotive industry for now..until the opportunity will knock back on my door...

relationship : sucks....just plain sucks, I had met a great girl, it was a long story but in the end, it just plain sucks, nothing left to say, simply put, I fucked up. I am just moving on as of now...

My friends are my life, I lived off of them...I am about to give up on the sunny souther cali weather, perfect tanned womens in skimpy *** clothes, driving along the coast and the canyon, family, money....all for my friends back in Dallas..they are the greatest peoples anyone can ever ask for.

in the end, I am a turbo nuts....always been, always will

*I originally wasn't gonna reply to this post, but seems like everyone's doing it, so i gotta jump onto the bandwagon*

I'm Nathan.. 22 years old.. Thai/Aussie.. Born and grew up in Australia, and then moved to Thailand about 8 years ago. Studying at an international university here with a degree in BIS (another HT freak studying a computer-related degree).

My first car was at 17, a '92 Toyota Corolla AE101 with a wonderfully fast 4A-FE engine, auto.. beat on it, raced it, and had it sideways on a regular basis.. to this day.. the engine and tranny still runs strong.. suspension.. well.. that's another story

When I turned 18.. I got my first taste of Honda... an EK Honda Civic VTi-L (D16Y8) sedan complete with factory JDM bumpers, mirrors, and RHD conversion () - this one also was beat on, raced, and drifted regularly.. it took a beating quite well, until someone introduced me to turbo. Me not knowing a thing about how honda's and turbo works.. slapped it on.. pushed 12 psi without opening up the engine or adding additional fuel injectors.. was quite fast.. but blew up a month later.

This time did it right, with an engine rebuild, and help from a guy who tunes/preps racing cars in Thailand. He helped me out, and we produced the fastest EK sedan in Thailand. It was featured in a few magazines, and I kinda got famous in the Thai racing community as "farang baa" (the crazy foreigner) since no one here dared to turbocharge a honda, coz very few people here knew how to do it right without breaking something..

One day, I went to visit my friend and his evo3 at a garage, and the owner of the garage had his eyes on my civic. He had just bought an integra, and was planning on going all-out NA on the engine. He saw the intercooler, and asked if he could sit for one round. So I took him (pushed the boost up to 1.4 bar too).

He was shocked. From that minute of getting out of my car, he sat me inside and asked me what it would take to turbocharge his teg. So I helped him by suggesting parts etc.. and he jumped online with his credit card and ordered it all from America. And I really mean ALL of it.. basically every little thing that needed to be changed (or would be a good idea to change, but wasn't totally necessary) was changed.. the bill was enormous, but it didn't bother him at all

Earlier this year, I had an accident in my Civic, and totalled the front of the car quite bad. Engine was okay.. airbag came out too, I was okay. While waiting almost 2 months for repairs, the guy who was building his Integra decided to give up on the whole project due to his wife scolding him for driving a kid's car when he should be driving a BMW.. so, he put the car up for sale (really cheap) and I pretty much bought the car the day after from him

Since purchasing the teg, I decided there would be no need to have two turbocharged cars... so once the Civic was fixed, I had the engine pulled and had a CRVTEC (B20B/B16A) installed.

Now I f*cked up the bottom half of my B18C in the teg quite bad, and since I was unable to find a replacement bottom-half of the engine, I bought another B20B engine, and am currently getting it modified and installed into the teg.. with the turbo

Some pictures..

my civic when it was turbocharged..

..now with a B20B..

HT has really educated me in many areas of my cars and turbocharging, and i've met a lot of nice people here who have helped me out with almost everything. Where would we all be without HT?

Well like the title says...I want to make this post..sort of autobiographical.
When I was little... I liked toys that had wheels.
When I got bigger, I rode bikes (pedal + motor powered)
When I got really big, I got 4 wheels that moved w/ a bigger motor.
When I grew up, I decided to go turbo.

That was pretty much the beginning of the end.
From there its a blurry mess of cars, work, failed ideas, blown motors, and new projects. Some of which included in the past small block chevy products, ford 302's, 383 strokers, 460 big blocks.. chevy / ford stuff. From there I went into a Buick Skylark... and then .. *Gasp*.. my First Honda ... a 1986 Prelude Si 2.0 w/ a moonroof. Man what a fun car. That hooked me.

From there I finished school (Photography in Philadelphia), moved back to NY to finsh school (b.s communications) in a little laid back hippie town and got myself a bigger 1997 prelude. I entered competitive motorsports... anything I could find. Auto-x, Drags, Road racing. I liked it... I liked it a lot. I out-grew the comfy, heavy slow 1997 prelude, and ended up with a 1998 Integra R. I did the usual battery of modifications ... continued to race.. drags and auto-x.

I outgrew the drags. It was fun... but over too fast. Auto-x kinda went away too. It was ok, but cones got boring to me. I stayed w/ the road racing... and got addicted to it. Less interior parts stayed in the R ... until there were only 2 seats and the front interior / dash.

Enter ... life change. I finish school in NY .. w/ my ITR. I move to ... just south of Boston. I have a fiancee. I have a dope place to live. And I somehow end up meeting Jon from The Drop Shop at New England Dragway. Man that was bad.
now I'm hip deep in my own business, and running a speed shop in a small town called Bridgewater, where I spend like 50 hours of my life a week. I work on anything with fuel injectors, carbs, or TPI Cars, trucks, boats, whatever, anything and everything. Life is a learning experience for us all.

Now. I've got a stripped, all motor ITR daily driver, crower 12.5mm lift, 300/300 cams, crower valvetrain, ti retainers, jdm 4-1, 2.5" cat, roll cage, 5pt belts, and saftey gear. Its loud as hell, ,and my daily driver. I spend most of my time trying to pay for Road racing at either Lime Rock park in CT, or New Hampshire International Speedway in ... guess where, NH

When I'm not blowing money on that ... I'm building a ground-up fully built b16 road race CRX monster. Eventually it'll out-grow the ITR in speed, handling, power to weight ratio, and fun-factor. When that happens... bye bye ITR

Here's a pic of me doing my thang...

Here's video's of us doing our thang...
http://www.baked.net/~sinitron/movies/NHIS/

So that's basically it. I spend my weekends tinkering w/ my car, helping my friends tinker w/ their cars, or playing w/ cars at the shop. You can even find me at Jon's shop... (www.thedropshop.tv), up in NH ... or south of Boston. If y'all need any help ... look us up. We meet a lot of people from honda-tech, hybrid, nemkiv, and a few other boards

-Brian

Well i figured i might as well join my fellow members and write about my self also! my name is Eric, i was born in tampa florida and grew up in good ol' Odessa florida! I am a norweigian and i am about 5' 9" tall, 160lbs. My parents split up when i was 6 years old. I did not see my mom much growing up so i spent must of my time with my father. Being my father is a total gear head he brought me up as one also. I started racing bikes BMX at age 10, became very good, won some nationals and placed 8th in nation at the NBL nationals as a 11 expert, but being i am not very big my father decided i was old enough for go karts! When i was 12 i got my first racing go kart for cristmas, i raced every kind of track from road course's to dirt ovals. We traveld all around racing nationals in the WKA (world karting asso.) I went on to when be a two time grand national winner, and hold Two national championships before age 16! When i turned age 16 i started racing in the scca! The first car i raced was a formula 500, which is a crazy fast little formula car, though we found out fast that being powered by snowmobile motors, its not very popular in the south east region! So we bought a formula VEE! Formula vee is a very very competive class, and most drivers that race in it have been doing so for a very long time! We quickly became a top contender and won most local events, We then became top finisher in the south east nationals, so we went to the run off's (the biggist race for amatures)!! Though being 18 at time i decided i had enough! I regret getting out of racing but i know that i will be getting back in very soon! I just needed brake from my father and the only thing i knew ( racing ) Later on i went to have my heart broken as well ( 2 years) love sucks! I would say around age of 18 i actually became interested in building street cars ( i always knew alot about street cars but never really cared being i raced a real race car almost every weekend)! So i bought myself a 96 EK hatch! I have transformed that car into a solo machine, but right now the motor is being pulled ( jdm b16 ) in favor of a motor i am almost complete with(N/A owns)! I will do a write up on the whole build up and post all info in month or so! I also like the forced induction forum because my father has a nice turbo miata and i find it interesting! heres a pic of me at local solo event! eric

im a senior engineering student who just finished a lab at 2:30 am and actually i gotta get up in a few hours to really finish it.

when i was 17 i started getting into hondas with an old prelude (90 si). i met some guys who were going 11s at the time (arvin, ed, chris, ralphy etc) and they were the east coast pioneers of the sport.

I tried my hand out at maxrev made a lot of changes over there and things didnt work out there either, so now most of you know me with full-race

ok, I'm still relatively new here and still learning a lot while doing a crazy install in my car. My name's Derek, 24 and work by sitting in front of a computer all day chating on here (and doing some work here and there).

I used to have a 2000 Accord EX-L Coup like my name says:

If you're smart you'll find my pic in the same msn group. And don't ask me about the girl... I wish we were still together...

Anyway... I have a 1994 Accord EX-L 4dr now. Here's a pic of it as I just got it a week ago:

In this car is going my fully built h22 with turbo and will be boosting about 25-28psi (at least that's my plan. Here's more pics of the engine buildup but I don't have the more recent pics of the progress of putting the engine back together. You'll just have to trust me on it.
