Who has the most miles on their Turbo before problems occured, if any?
I tried a search but came empty handed.
Anyway, curious to know who here has been driving with a turbo the longest/miles before they started having problems if ANY. I will be going boost soon, but I don't have enough for internals (who does?) yet. Not for a while anyway.
I have a 99 Civic Si w/30,987 miles on it, I roughly drive about 10,000-12,000 miles a year. I'm a modest driver, I was hoping I could go internals maybe in about 2 more years when I'm around 50K miles I guess, give or take a few miles. But I wanted to know how your turbo cars were holding up.
I know it's all on how you take care of your car and how you drive it and tuning, cooling, blah blah, I know, but I wanted some straight figures from people that actually have a turbo. How many miles till stock internals might start .. to give. so I know when to prepare. You know, think ahead.
Thanks.

That' doesn't sound bad, since the tranny has nothing to really do with the turbo and more it was your fault and stuff. Okay.. well that's a plus. Did you fix your trannY? how is the turbo running now?

I will be in the same boat as you once i get my turbo. If i were you i would just get a nice conservative tune as soon as possible. I would also try to take it very easy because blown engine + no money for internals = fucked and no car. My emergency plan if something should happen would be buying a spare block for a couple hundred to minimize down time. If you have a good tune and take it easy you shouldn't have problems but you need to be prepared because **** happens. Best of luck with your setup and hopefully the same to me (although im still saving for the actual turbo). Hope this helps

bought my **** used. about 2 months later and a trip to houston the thing leaked oil bad out of both sides. rebuilt the turbo and it still leaks a little bit. dont know what is wrong with it. the best way you can tell when you are buring oil other than seeing it. all of your lights will display on your a/f ratio gauge. so when you see that, watch out.

I just matters how hard you drive the car. Drive like a crazy man, it will most likely break. Drive sane, it won't break.

I've had mine for 2 years and 50,000 km. I havn't had problems at until now. I have a fuel or ignition problem, but it still runs. I'm only at 5 psi though.

I'm just hoping a stock motor will last me a while. Like I said, 2 years or at least 30,000 K or so. So far... so good... I think

CovertFi, did you check your oil return line? Make sure it is not kinked. I had that problem once. The line was slightly kinked and I had oil coming out of the inlet and outlet portion of my turbo with a ton of smoke leaving the exhaust! Thank god it ended up being fine and I did'nt have to rebuild it.
Good Luck!
