Who has autometer vacuum and boost gauge
I received one free when I bought my manifold. Question is, at rest, the needle points to -2 on the vacuum side. Is this normal? I dont want it to be off, especially when its in boost. TIA
To clarify--at rest is when the car is off. Actually I just finished putting it in and I am so low on gas that I dont want to start it and let it get to idle. I need that gas to get to the gas station But when it is first started it gets about 22-24 vacuum.
Also, I'm a biter I dont have the turbo on yet. I am doing the little things now that will erk me to finish my custom setup.

Re: Who has autometer vacuum and boost gauge (93LSivic)
at rest meaning when the car is off?
What does it do at idle?
full boost?
Mine is on 0 at off?
idle at around 18-22 vac i think, its been awhile since i've had it hooked up since taking the supercharger off

Re: Who has autometer vacuum and boost gauge (Double 06)
i have one, and it does the same damn thing.. it's off to the left a little when car is off and depending on the temperature outsside, it a little off at idle.. i think it stems from the fact that autometer boost gauges suck! but i'm just figuring this out... now..
i'm upgrading to a greddy boost gauge when the funds are available..
keep in mind mine isnt off by 2 but it's off by enough to bother me..

Re: Who has autometer vacuum and boost gauge (VTC_CiViC)
Autometer has this answer in its FAQ section on its site, it refers to Tachs, but I would assume it would apply to any of their products that have a air-core meter movement in them like a boost gauge.
Why doesn't my tach pointer rest at zero when the ignition is off?
When the ignition is off the pointer may not always rest at zero. This is a characteristic of the air-core meter movement. You will see that when you turn on your ignition the pointer will return to zero. When the engine is started the pointer will register the correct RPM. If the pointer does not return to zero when the ignition is on, the tach might not be receiving 12 volts or it has been damaged by a battery charger, arc welder, or a faulty charging system. If this is the case, please send it back to Auto Meter for repair.

What is this crap?
Re: Who has autometer vacuum and boost gauge (digitalspice)
uhhhh. uhhhhhhh. thats for a tach. BZZZZT. thanks for playing!
their boost gauges do not have an air core meter. they are purely mechanical. actually, i am suprised how well they work for such a rudimentary setup.
sorry to bust your chops. had to
