Default Where to get the best head................

Looking for the best head job, porting, valves and everthing. I'm putting it on this set up....
2.0 Ls/vtec with this stuff:
Iron Sleeves
IB Spec Wiseco Piston
Eagle Rods
Bore, Hone, Hot tank,
Balanced Crank
Polished Crank
All new Bearings & Thrusts
All new seals, and Oil pan Gasket
New VTEC oil pump
New VTEC water pump
LS/VTEC Oil line Kit with all fittings
Compressions is 9:1

The block is built by importbuilders and they have a head package for $1,550. not sure if it's worth the $1,500 or am i better to have someone port it and do the rest myself? Please enlighten me on this.

I'm aiming for a low 11 street car that is prolly gonna get a sc61 turbo.

here is the site......... http://www.importbuilders.com this block is #0021

Humor is fine as long as you provide useful info with it. so far non of you three have don't that. get your head out of the gutter and realize this is honda-tech not club si!

for the other two, thanx.

I need more info. keep it coming!

Oh, and if i get the head done at IB and use the right turbo and get it tuned I should see 388 whp at 12 psi just like they did. Or like they did with the 455whp at 14psi. And as far as head I know greensburg is the place to go for that

id read the 20 page thread about porting in the drag racing forum. portflow (IB's contracted company) is good, but there are other companies to be considered.

alright then.
Since your block is at ib might as well have them send the head to portflow also. Portflow does good work.

ok then, heres some constructive information........you do not need a built head. gsr head stock w/ gsr cams and maybe springs and retainers. for the power and et you want, you do not need half of the stuff you already have and definetly do not need a built head.

i weighted almost 2500 lbs and went 11.30's with only about 375 to the wheels a few years ago. so i would think with 400 to the wheels you'd run 11.30's @ around 128 mph. you can spend 2 g's on a head if you want but you don't HAVE to. maybe do gsr cams if you can get a cheap/free set. i would definetly do springs and retainers and bump the rev limit to 9000. run 24" slicks and you might have to trade out the final drive of your b16 tranny or swap someone for a gsr tranny. you'd need 25" slicks and at least a 9500 rev limit to run the b16 tranny(approximately) and you would be better off with a built head in that case......just costs more and that is going way out of your goals. you would make over 600 to the wheels easy with that type of set up and the rest of the parts you have.

Ok so your saying I'm going a little overboard with all the stuff.
How about this.... That block, stock head but upgraded springs and retainers and stock IM, TB and all that, plus the sc61. then go to track and see what i can do, if i'm not happy, do the head work?

I'm kind of lost now, i don't need 400whp to get it to run low 11's?

no, i said 400 to the wheels will easily get you where you want to be. try to get some gsr cams but only if they're cheap. get a skunk2 intake manifold or a type r if you can find a cheap one. get springs and retainers. that sc61 will barely be spinning making the 400 to the wheels. you might not even want that big of a turbo if you only want 400 to the wheels. but i am not a turbo spec guy.

Art could help me with the turbo stuff but he is too busy on that site he gave us all. j/k hook me up art!

I might just get the head done. That place in NC is lookin good. I mean if i need the power it will be there. and it's only like $1,500. what the hell is $1,500?

I have about 6k in the car right now with the new block included in that price. cage and all. So what the hell, why not, i'll just maybe run faster than my goal. Think i could get low 10's with the head done, that block, and the sc61....ahh *** it, i will find out. It's only money. I'll run low 11's with low boost and get some respect around here for the import crowd.
I do see the point in not doing the head if not neaded. But i also don't know when i will die so i might as well have fun while i'm here. Thanks for the help.
