they arent steel, they are made out of nylon. what you are looking for is made by earl's. its called pro-lite 350
jegs.com has it but they dont seem to sell the fittings for it

Lightweight, durable, flexible.
Pro Lite 350 hose has a tough, abrasion resistant nylon sheathing, bonded to the textile inner braid embedded in the synthetic rubber liner making it the highest pressure, lightweight hose available. The hose has incredible flexibility while maintaining the ability to withstand high vacuum and hot oil temperatures. Pressure ratings of 350 psi and operating temperature range of -40°F to +300°F. Do not use with brake fluid. Specifically designed to use Earl's Swivel Seal and Auto Crimp Hose Ends.

i dont remember where the fittings came from

Re: where to find black braided steel lines???? (wantboost)
what are you using your lines for??? these probably wouldnt be to good for oil return due to high temp right? i dont know much about oil/fuel lines, are these a lot more than reg ss lines? i also read that some fittings are pretty hard to install. would the fittings for these lines be tough?

it would be fine for an oil return as long as it doesnt corss over the downpipe or get to clsoe to it (i.e heat wrap the dp and return line)
I'm using mine for my fuel system

You'd be surprised how much weight I saved. Every little bit counts.

Sprint cars that come in to be fitted with startlite hose/fittings are usually running a dry sump and can save 30-50lb easy.

Re: where to find black braided steel lines???? (civicross)
Here try this, it might help a little bit:
Example of hose:
http://store.summitracing.com/...00041
Example of fittings: (Black Oxide)
http://store.summitracing.com/...00041
Example of fittings: (Black hard anodized)
http://store.summitracing.com/...00041
Now you can also look up this stuff as well: http://www.xrp.com
You can use the hose that is used on the IHBA boats. The machine that they use just to compress the fitting is $3000.00. That hose is pretty expensive. XRP is in San Diego, California. He has been doing TAD (Top alchohol dragsters), and FC (Funny cars) in the NHRA for a long time now. Aeroquip, and Goodridge also have some of this line as well. But I think that you will be happier with the price and the overall product of the Earls line.
Side note as well, you can order the hose ends from Jegs if you want to as well. It is just a Jegs part as opposed to an Earls part. Same thing, at a fraction of the cost.

Re: (MidShipCivic)
im using two -8's off of the sump to a magnaflow y-fitting that has a -10 feed to an earls filter and aeromotive a100 pump, then -10 all the way to the fuel rail, then to an aeromotive regulator then to a -6 return
all of the stuff for the sump and the fuel rail feed and return in the engine bay is prolite, the rest of it is earl's super stock hose or watever (the blue stuff)
