Default When to sleeve a block?!?

At what power level do most of you guys recommend moving to a sleeved block?

with my old setup, i was at 355whp @ 14psi on 93 and run a 11.75.

after upgrading my valvetrain this year(reving to 9500 instead of 8100), switching from a t3/t4e to a gt35e and with moving to 1000cc injectors, adding the fluidamper to save my oil pump & bearings. I started to realize that hey, my setup may not be strong enough to ensure survival of my block this season.

So is there a line? I'm sure alot will say tuning, which I think is 80% of the truth, but with my goal of hitting a 10.xx pass this year, and probably starting to run race gas and crank up the boost, i think i'll be around the 500whp mark.

Just wondering what others think.

current setup:
b18c1
81.5mm Endyn rollerwaves 9.2:1
eagle rods
stock head
t3/t4oe 60 trim, stage 5
Autolab manifold, 3in downpipe, dumptube
tial 35mm, .6 bar
RC 550
Hondata s200b (self tuned)
Greddy Type 24 IC

new setup
block ?!?!
.5mm overbored supertech valves with supertech springs & retainers
Precision GT35e
tial 38mm, .9 bar spring
Precision 1000cc
Hondata 200b
Same autolab turbo manifold/piping setup
same ICer
GE scattersheild
Buck02 Limit Straps
6-pt cage, 3in harnesses

basicly, i have everything, but my block is still the old setup, so timing is running out to decide...

theres no real line. I know DRT's drag car was making big power (600whp) on stock sleeves...

This question is really up for debate, I would sleeve for a 500+whp goal. Some people say when you are 400whp+ you should sleeve. I am sure there are people on here with 450-500hp range and still on stock sleeves. My goal when I get my motor done in a month is 400+ and I am omn stock sleeves with a block guard. Another big factor is the tuning. But once again for you high hp goal def. sleeve the block

Another reason i pulled the motor when i pulled the head off was to inspect the sleeves and everything looks good to go, who knows.

oh yeah, the motor currently has around 7k miles on the setup with everything replaced at rebuild.

how much power are you looking to make.

400+ on stockers is not uncommon now, if your tunned right.

really peace of mind i would say. im only shooting for 350-400 and i sleeved mine

prolly not needed, but i feel better about the build

platinum.

goal is to be around 400whp on 93 and 500whp with c16. but really just to run a 10.xx pass. yet i've added a 6pt rollcage and two sparco torino's so that won't be easy on the weight of the car, as that mild steel cage really added up.

It matters how much you want to gamble.Your in the range that a little miss on the tune and its bye bye cylinder.I'd hate to go up in smoke after winning the semi.

I didn't sleeve mine until my stock sleeves were so out of round that they were visibly oval. Blow up your stock sleeves, then go get some stronger ones.

oh yeah, i sent you an email 2-3 days ago, asking about pricing and such around this very question

in a way, i just want to gamble just to make 500whp on stock sleeves, and then again, i'd have to pop in the middle of a race and wait on AAA.
